Quaker
Hi folks, We've noticed that our new four month old Quaker gets pretty vocal when the TV is on and the volume is medium to loud. Does he like the TV or is he saying please turn down the volume LOL? I'm trying to understand. He's learning to talk so the TV is stimulating him to be vocal and he's now starting to say "What's Up?". Please let us know your thoughts. Thank you.

Does he scream or just chirp? IF it's chirping it's most likely happy sound but if he's screaming, he might be annoyed by it.

Quaker like to make noise, I'd say happily joining in.

BTW I had to grin, cuz on February 9th you were posting how quiet your new buddy was....lol those will be the days you will look back on with fondness

LoL, that so funny. My wife was really concerned about him being so quiet and was having buyers remorse, but he's turning into a great bird with a lot of interaction/engagement, a variety of noises and is now starting to talk so we're very happy. He's really sweet. We named him Milo Blue.

ok good feedback, I will have to pay closer attention. He's making all types of sounds chirps, screams and making sounds like he's talking like a cranky old man. Really funny.

We are watching YouTube videos of talking Quakers to see if this works ll help Willow to talk more. He seemed more interested in the videos yesterday than today.

I would really like Willow to talk more. I live alone with my birds in an apartment and it seems this helps him to stay quiet. I wish he talked more like my Lucy did but she was a baby in a very loud household and then came to live with me and my roommate.

How can I get Willow to talk more? I am not very loud and there’s little traffic in my apartment.

Heather,
They are all different..
my Neptune was also a big talker, now 3 aren't.

But I often wonder if its because my circumstances are similar to yours.

Except Pikachu started out living with 4 roommates and their significant others. And she came to me with only 1 word. And just is a quiet one. No screeching either

Willow is such a nice bird and is coming out easier and easier. I know he can talk because he’s said several words but just not often. I think he is happy so we will keep watching bird tv and talking to the video birds and maybe he will learn and maybe he won’t. There’s almost no screeching and Willow seems he would be perfectly happy sitting on his basket next to me all the time. But it is easy to know what your bird wants when it tells you in words like “out!” or “want drink”.
I just want him to have a nice time in his cage as well as being held. Since he’s so timid around toys I wonder if he is just a shy bird. But he is perfectly feathered which wasn’t the case when he came to me so I think he’s content.
Anyhow he did laugh with me and the parrot on the video so that is a start.
