Quaker, conures: 1 gc 1 pineapple, just put a deposit down for a Nanday and IRN
Hi, I went to pick out a Quaker and wanted the one that was goofy. While she ( she has been sexed through blood) is spunky and eats well and perches, once I got her home, I noticed her balance is slightly off and she keeps her head low to the ground while walking.Almost like she can’t see. Is this just her tick? The breeder is amazing and they wouldn’t let me take her originally until they knew she would eat and could perch on her own. She is a beautiful girl and if she’s special that’s fine with me. Just wondering if anyone else’s Quaker has done this or has their own weird little ticks.

First all quakers are goofy.

Second just keep an eye if it can fly and even hover (something quakers can do) then I suppose it's fine. Mine is goofy as all get out it's basically a conure without the fight instinct. Check back in in a bit and see if it adapted.

Like with any new parrot, monitor his weight daily and look for any drop of more then 3% in a few days. Keep a log and weight 1st thing in the AM, after his big morning poop. I did that for the first cupule of years with Salty, now I weigh like 1x a month, he's a stable adult.

Quakers, like any kind of parrots, can have unique, individual quirks. It's possible that's the case with your new QP. If you haven't already done so, it's a good idea to schedule a visit with a veterinarian, avian certified or at least experienced with caring for parrots. That's the surest way to assure that there aren't any physical issues.
