I was originally going to take my time and wait until I knew my baby's personality, but when I thought/heard of the names Jinx and Velocity, my heart was set on them. Besides, another thing I realised is that parents generally name their babies (human) before they present any kind of personality... *shrugs*
Who knows, I might meet my baby and suddenly change my idea of what his/her name will be. We'll see =]

Awh! That would have been so stressful for you! I'm not willing to take on a baby so young. I'm too scared I'll do something wrong! My boy will be about 12 weeks old and fully weaned when I get him. And I'm sure I won't be able to sleep the night before either!

Isn't that the TRUTH!! I did the SAME thing with Maui, I just kept making sure he was warm enough, still breathing, wasn't hungry, scared, or anything that would keep him from sleeping. I STILL worry about him, I can't WAIT to hop out of bed to get my baby out and let him eat his brekkie!!

Aww, Several of us know just what you're going through waiting for your baby to arrive. A lot of us did YEARS of research and waiting for the perfect time to accept such a blessing in our homes. I have always wanted to be the guardian of a Grey. I also KNEW better than to rush out and get the first one that came my way, as I was a Mommy to my human children first, a full time employee and wife. I didn't have a whole lot of "extra" time for a parrot. Now, my girls are all almost grown, don't need nearly the time from me as they used to, I don't have to work right now anyways and my husband LOVES Maui and WANTED Maui right along with me In fact, Maui has taken a better liking to my hubby than even me!! It's ok though, I get to spend all day with him, but when Dad comes home, WATCH OUT!! Maui can not WAIT to get to him to get head scratches and sugar kisses all over the beak.

Haha, I worry that my baby will like my boyfriend more than me! Although my dog loves me and sees me as her pack leader and protector, when Andy (my boyfriend) comes over, she just gets so ridiculously excited. He plays silly games with her and she just goes nuts for him!


My second order of toys came in today. I've got lots of stuff now, which is good. Plenty of toys and perches. I'm also going to be making some of my own. I plan to make a stepper (http://www.myparrotshop.com/images/uploads/StepperXL01.jpg) and some rope ladders and nets for the aviary. Also foot toys out of natural wood, and whatever else I can think of.
