Sisqo & GiGi-DYH & BF Amazons

Snow & Blue-Budgies
Well for those of you not familiar with Sisqo, he's my 10 year old DYH Amazon. He's nice, but he's not cuddly at all. He doesn't enjoy being pet, but will step up and give kisses all day. Well I picked him up on Sunday and just pet his head b/c I always at least try, and he actually let me do it. I was so shocked. I sat down for about half an hour and rubbed his head and his neck...he even fell asleep kinda. So I just thought I'd let you know.

I would love to do the same with Gigi and maybe help him out with some of his pin feathers....but I'm afraid he would break his beak trying to break my finger.

:jumping40 Woo hoo :jumping40

Thats great news. Pepsi really loves to cuddle I can't wait for her to learn step up and really trust me enough to cuddle. I'm sure with time Gigi will open up to. :D

Hey Nicole, that's great. :D:D:D It must have felt very good to be able to do that and for so long too! That's definitely rewarding!

That's great Nicole!! One thing leads to another.

What a magic moment!!

Well Sisqo wasn't too into the headrubbing when I tried it yesterday, but oh well.

Gigi is starting to go into his cage when we say that it's Night-night time. This is a good thing because I hate having to corral him in there with my hands, won't make for good training on step-up & letting me pet him. I have a question though for you all...what do you think if I try to *pet* Gigi with one of his own feathers? There was a big one on the bottom of his cage, and I kind of pet him with it and he let me. Can anyone think of any negative consequences of this?

I think one of them is getting sick. Unfortunately I can't tell which b/c they always go back and forth between cages. I have a feeling it might be Sisqo though and that his liver is starting to 'act up' again. The poop is starting to look a little red, like it did last January when he got sick.

If you think one of them is getting sick, talk to your vet quickly.

When you go to the vet ask him about milk thistle treatments.

But given the cage changes and the which one 'dropped', call your vet, discuss the situation, and heed the advice.
