RE: Disturbed bird

Hi All, the other day there was an earthquake centered in Hawthorn Nv area. I live on the western side of the Sierra Nevadas. About a week prior to that my bird "Sheldon" went into a weeks worth of screeching. Nothing seemed to satisfy him. I wouldn't want to answer to the screeching and only get him when he made nice noises. but then even holding him, he would start in. After the quake rolled through that night he's been fine. Could he have sensed that the earth was going to change, Even though it wasn't centered even near us? I just thought it was interesting. I thought maybe he was just going through one of his phases of life. Something to watch for next time he's a bit distraught.

Re: Disturbed bird

I remember seeing an icon for that quake on my phone weather app! Was significant, around a 5 on the Richter Scale IIRC?

Animals are highly sensitive to their environment and can perceive things we cannot or require instrumentation to detect.

There are any number of fake studies, non-supportable studies, studies for groups with questionable funding ties that sadly weaken the long standing history of those common everyday people around the World that have reports like yours.

I live in a somewhat stable area. An area in which earthquakes are rare and when they occur they are deep and center far from us. Long and short of all of that is we have no history of stories of animals perceiving the precursors of an earthquake in our area.

The problem that Pure Science based clinical (supportable study structure) studies is finding what physical process is triggering the response and what receptor in the animals is receiving it. There is little question that something is happening, it just finding the source, link, and receptor. As of today science is still looking.

The serious problem is that some, but not all animals are reacting and to make things even worse, each time, different animals or individual animals will react. Add to this the frustration that there seems to be no connection as to when, how strong and whether it is near or farther away. So, there are responses, but little more.

Earthquake occur everyday somewhere in this huge World and they kill people and animals alike. Add to that all the losses and you can quickly see why there is an on-going interest in finding some kind of connection that will provide even a small advance warning of an earthquake happening and where.

A few 5.7 and a lot of little in that area, but not felt here in Tuolumne co.

To Sailboat: I suppose your right. There is a lot of action going on in our environment. It would be difficult to pin it down to a certain animal reaction and the outcome of the event. I just found it interesting..something to watch for later. Maybe it was just a phase.

Keep notes of this and like actions by your Parrot! Just maybe you will have that Parrot that is tied in! Your notes with either support it or not. That said, your notes may also provide you a link to what else may be driving your Parrot's response. If you Parrot is tied in!!! You may have to change the name of your Ranch! Maybe something like Golden Dollar Parrot Ranch! :D
