Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
SOOO...I spilled a full glass of Chianti on my carpet. I did my best to wipe it up and I poured white vinegar on it but that may have been a dumb move...Either way, there is still a pinkish stain...The spot treatment I would have used before is bad for birds.

Any thoughts on how to safely removed this stain without renting a steamer?

I've heard baking soda is good for getting out wine stains, unsure of how safe it is for birds though

Look into Oxiclean!

Fresh stains: just use sparkling water - nooo idea how it works but it lifts it right out.

Is it safe? It is a type of bleach basically---I used to soak clothing/linens in it (from the 1800s) and it didn't ruin them...
But when I was in India for a long spell, we did laundry in buckets and I vividly remember ruining a pair of jeans with Oxiclean! Bleached spots all over then (probably because I didn't mix it up properly and just allowed it to sit on the surface). When I say, "is it safe" I DO mean for the bird, and not so much the carpet.

I will second the soda water. I got blood out of my carpet with it.

I’m not old enough to drink so I’m no expert but have you heard of the old wives’ trick of white wine to get rid of red wine stains? Dunno if that’ll work but I didn’t see it on this thread so I’ll put it in.
