- African Senegal (Princess Consuela, but we call her "Suela" for short)
My Senegal child, Suela, is currently about 4 1/2 months old. She will sometimes do the "dry heaving" reguritation movements and nothing comes out. Which I have done a small amount of research on this behavior concluding that she may have a full crop, or something stuck in her throat.
This morning however she produced some pieces of dried banana my boyfriend fed her while in his presence. He said there was some liquid in it, and her beak was a shiny, clear wet. I came in the room while she was re-eating the food she had regurgitated. He said "she just reguritated".. my concern was vomiting. She has been singing, and playful, jumping around the back of the couch, and climbing all over him and me. I don't see any behavioral changes. My question about this, is she too young to be displaying this behavior? or is it possible that she just had some food caught and needed to finish eating it, therefore the reguritation had nothing to do with a show of affection and more for practical eating purposes?
And what is the difference between, vomiting and reguritation? I have tried to look up some information on it, but nothing really seemed clear to me. Most information was explaining the difference in sexually mature parrots (i.e. showing mating behaviors toward their parents). So I figured I'd ask here, since she is still a baby.
