One of the few legends whose enormous talent was equalled, and even overshadowed, by his character as a man. His vibrant mind spent over half his life trapped in a failing body beset by disease, yet he always stood tall, strong and dignified.

He was the greatest boxer of all time, a courageous Civil Rights activist, and a staunch advocate for all those who suffer, as he did, from Parkinson's disease. Any one of these would be a worthy achievement, much less all three.

And now he soars free of his bodily prison and finally goes on to his eternal rest in Paradise. Muhammad Ali, once known as Cassius Clay and forevermore as The Greatest Of All Time, you will be missed.

"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The hands can't hit what the eyes can't see.”

“I’m so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and got into bed before the room was dark.”

“It's hard to be humble when you're as great as I am.”

“The man with no imagination has no wings.”

"If you even dream of beating me, you better wake up and apologize."

"The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life."

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing."

"Live every day like it's your last because someday you're going to be right."

Rest in Peace Muhammad Ali...lovely tribute Anansi.

I missed his passing! He also, is among my top 5, whom I respect the most! He walked his talk, and at times paid a heavy price for it! Never heard him whine about, 'unfair'.

Thank you Stephen for weaving a wonderful testament to Muhammad Ali with many of his quotes - the truest measure of a man. Most importantly, he lived and encouraged his ideals.

Thank you for the nicely written tribute, Stephen. I especially appreciate hearing again the well loved quotes. I've had tremendous respect and admiration for Muhammad Ali throughout my adult life. He was a man who held fast to his convictions and faced every conflict with unfailing courage, inside and outside the ring. A true inspiration in so many ways. Rest in peace, Muhammad. You will be missed by millions.

Beautifully worded tribute to such a great man Stephen. Such an inspiring icon will never be forgotten. Thank you for posting this.
