Roudybush vs Harrisons

My sun is 12 weeks and my yellow sided green cheek is 9 weeks and they both eat Roudybush along with fruits and veggies and a Few seeds, these are my first birds and that is what the breeder was feedng them however I have been seeing many threads about Harrisons brand, is it much better than Roudybush and what is the difference?

It's far worse if your bird won't eat it.

We feed our GCC Harrison's, but merely because it was the first bag of pellets we tried, and he liked them. I've seen one website that listed Harrison's as being about the only organic pellet, but you have to take these things with a pinch of salt. Many, many people here use Roudybush; in your situation, I would probably stick with pellets you know they like.

If you really want to try the Harrison's you could just get a small bag to see if they will eat it, but if not I think you should just stick with what already seems to be working.

When I switched Maxx to pellets I went with Harrisons. He liked them fine, but for the cost of $10 a bag I switched him over to Roudybush. I can get it 4 blocks from the house, buy it in bulk $3.49 a pound, and they also sell small sample size 8 oz bags for $1.99.

Maxx likes both the Crumples and Mini size so I have a combo of them available to him at all times.

Whichever you use, keep out only what you are going to use in a week or so, and keep the rest in the freezer.

My grey came home with Roudybush so that's what I wound up switching my GCC to. I heard so many good things here about Harrisons I wrote them and got samples. He didn't seem to care for it at all. He's doing well on the Roudybush and he gets that mixed with a little avicake and Just Veggies. (though I might have to get Just Corn for him because he won't eat the peas)

my grey has been on Harrisons since she was weened. she likes it but holy crap is it expensive. for 5 pounds it goes for 35.00. where as Rhoudybush is 10 pounds for $35.00.

yes i get it, harrisons is "high quality, Premium" parrot food. but how do I really know that? Is its nutrition factor and quality factor so much better than Roudybush that it justifies costing twice as much?

That's great! I actually volunteer at the Bird Brain at least once a week.

My babies are on Roudybush and they enjoy it along with their fruits and veggies. I tried feeding them Harrisons and they wouldn't eat it. Honestly I have tried the Roudybush myself and if I had to live on it for a week I could. As for the Harrisons, it tastes like dirt! Yes, that's my personal opinion!

I've not tasted RB, but I can agree that Harrisons tastes a little bland to me.

Harrison's is a awesome brand if your fids will eat it, my galah Rosie hated Harrison's so instead I went with Totally Organic pellets and she loves those

Do you know if birds who have a Roudybush diet in general have a shorter life than those with a Harrison's diet? Does Roudybush have safe fat and protein amounts for both Jenday conures and Eclectus? I know Eclectus are supposed to have less fat than other birds. If it is good for both what size do you think would work for both instead or having to buy 2 size pellets? Thank you so much!!!

Moonstone, I'm not sure that anyone can answer your question as to which pellet promotes a healthier, longer life. You might be able to get away with feeding a medium sized pellet for your birds, although eclectus may or may not do well on a pelleted diet.



Fruits, vegetables, grains legumes, sprouts and the occasional cooked eggs are still important to the diet, so never forget that!
