Ruby Macaw not perching

Hi! Wondering if anyone has any insight on why my ruby macaw suddenly cannot use his feet to perch? If he is on top of a perch his head is low to balance the whole time and he’s no longer climbing all over the cage etc.
Brough him to a vet and did a round of antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds but nothing changed. We are going to a new vet Monday but can’t seem to figure out why he cannot walk anymore — honestly he’s a parrot - palegic and it’s been difficult and sad to watch! We bought a metal dog crate so he can’t fall too far to the ground. I put a perch in it but he sleeps on the ground. Any ideas???

Welcome to the forums, @Joyboy, but I'm so sorry for the circumstances under which you have joined, it is SO hard to watch our babies struggle like this! I don't have any advice as to what may be causing it, although somebody else here might. It could be neurological or nerve damage, something internal pressing on the nerves or muscles that control his movement, or something else entirely. I think taking him to a different vet for another opinion is a good idea, and just in case you need assistance finding one, our worldwide list of avian specialists is linked for you below...
