I use stainless steel bowls or my fids food and water but they can get so slimy, even with a good scrub each day. What is the best cleaner that is non toxic to clean bowls and perches/toys??

At the sink, hot water and Dawn, rise well! Let air dry.

Best: Dishwasher with heat dry! Not recommended for plastic toys - let them air dry.

Curious why they get like this? Is it very hot where you are? Mix of foods? Bowls changed frequently? Is it all the time? I am interested what is causing this for your birds sake? :)

I recently purchased a bottle of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day , sold at whole foods.

I use it on all my bathroom and kitchen surfaces only for now.

The label reads:

Made with- plant derived ingredient, natural essential oils, birch bark extract

Made w/o- parabens, phthalates, glycol solvents, formaldehyde, artificial colors

It does say keep out of reach of children and pets, but that is common sense. I am in the process of finding out if it is safe enough to use on stainless steel bowls. I'd imagine it is with a good rinsing.

Be careful! :)

Please research Norwex. They are the true meaning of cleaning with NO and I mean NO chemicals. Any of their soaps are purely enzymes. But their #1 product which I use confidently when cleaning bird poop off stuff is their microfiber (enviro) cloth. Search on youtube for Norwex demonstrations on how well they work. :) The bird store I work at uses their products to clean anything and everything since it's 100% bird safe and safe for our Earth :)

I have no idea other than my birds are notorious for dipping their food in their water and my Jenday pretty much tosses his in there. There's never a smell to the water, just gets filmy on the edges. Doesn't help they bath in it so I have to change it constantly.

They get a mixture of Lafebers pellets, Sunburst Parrot mix, and their great fruit and veg daily. Their feathers are bright and healthy and not at all oily.
