Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Got home today from 2 weeks abraod, in which time I was worried that Salty would develop disinterest or even hatred because to him, I abandoned him. I mean my family did lots of interaction and even training with, and I even set up a Skype account so I could have video chats with him. I am happy to say he seems OK with me by bed time. Initially he was standoffish, even pushing my hand and fingers away from him when I first got home. But a few pine nuts, and attempts at giving scratches seems to have opened the flood gates. Once again he is my shoulder buddy, wrestling like he loves and we had a 45 min scratching session. Wait til he sees his gifts from China . Some dried fruits and a beautiful little treat cup that clips between the bars. I am one relieved pirate, mates.

Welcome home, Pirate...I mean Albert. :D

So, who did you greet first, Salty or the family? ;)

Happy to hear Salty welcomed you home after your long voyage! I had an idea he would be thrilled to be back on your shoulder.

Just a point for Salty's sake please ensure that these items/pressies are properly taken care of in relation to hygiene wont you?

Welcome home.

Oh yeah, everything is thoroughly washed and disinfected before he gets his mouth on them. And I DID say hello to the wifey first before Salty and even kissed her first .... gotta keep momma happy or no one is happy. This morning it was like I never left at all. I was so happy, I went to the bird store and got him some new foot toys and a few hanging toys. I went to where I got him from, Parrots of the World . I helped Mark, the owner, sell a Panama Amazon to a nice family. Really nice social bird

That's good so all's well in your world. Pleased to hear it.

Yes we did. Why?

He had some very nice friendly DYH there. It takes so much control to not buy a new parrot every trip. Funny, he was saying a lot of his stock (parrots) go to Hong Kong. He had just sold and shipped a blue phase yellow nape zon to HK.

So glad all went well with Salty on your return...I bet you are glad to be back :)
