i was not sure what forum to post this on so i thought ill just post it here, i hope thats ok! today when i was in the car with my boyfriend we saw a man on a motorcycle infront of us with a galah ON HIS SHOULDER. i cant remember the speed limit in that zone but im sure it was around 30-40! and it doesnt even wear a harness, ive seen him once or twice at our local coles with him on his shoulder but i had absolutely no idea he had it on the motorcycle too... i was amazed. but man i would never do that

I'd be afraid of losing ..or getting in to an accident. I wouldn't do it.

There was a guy that lived close to me. He had a Too that use to ride with him on his motorcycle. They did crash :( The man was killed but the Too lived. Sad situation but they had rode together for 10+ years from what I had read. Went Everywhere together. Never on a harness .

A car unrestrained is just as bad. Bird is like a child and becomes a bullet when car wrecks. On a motorcycle they stand a chance of being thrown into flight . That is what happened to the Too.

I'd call it reckless and irresponsible....but that's just me.

I know what it feels like to 'catch' a bug while riding, can you imagine what it must feel like for the bird?

what a sad story christinen! and i agree with the above, every time i see him ill just feel bad for the bird now :/

The motorcycle thing, I think is just completely irresponsible...

But then, I am one of those people who drive with unharnessed, uncaged birds in the car, so I suppose I'm not one to talk.

I had a friend who had an out and about U2 that was trained to ride on the handlebars of his bicycle. They both loved that one. And it was fun to see...

Hope this works. This is dedication

It's also pretty clever engineering.

Get a used baby buggy, then modify it by mounting a travel cage...

While I can understand the intense desire to share life in all respects with a parrot, some activities IMO are just too potentially dangerous or reckless.

These are adult decisions, but sadly (and obviously) the parrot is not involved in the conversation.

I think just watching this would make me highly nervous. However, when I think about it, I don't feel sorry for this bird compared to all the ones I see on craigslist in tiny cages that have been there for god knows how long. It's high risk, but the bird gets to spend a lot of time with her/his flock and is probably better adjusted than a lot of the birds out there.

Don't worry, I don't plan on riding a motorcycle anytime soon much less taking Foo on it. ;P

Check out this picture of this guy riding a trail bike with his ekkie in my book on eclectus parrots.
