my 2 budgies lemon and sky are a bonded pair.
my problem is that before my female budgie always rearranged the bedding, but when i put the newspaper on teh floor of the cage, i had to move the box and now the both of them wont even go inside of it, tehy already showed signs of mating: ( bobbing head, feeding each other and preening)

any ideas how to get them to b interested on the box:(:whiteblue::greenyellow:

See siggie :)
I'm going to start off with a few questions about your set up, birds and knowledge.
1# How big is the cage?
2# How long have you had the birds?
3# Do you know how old they are?
4# Are you sure of their genders?
5# Can you post a picture of your set up?
6# What is their diet?
7# Have they bred before?
8# Have you any knowledge in caring for chicks and eggs?
9# Do you have homes lined up for any future babies?
10# Why are you wanting to breed them?
11# Are you sure they are in condition?
12# Do they have any medical problems that you are aware of?
13# Why is the nest box on the bottom of the cage?!
14# Are you prepared to hand rear?
15# Are you prepared to LOSE your birds?
16# Are you knowledgeable in the area of egg binding and infertility?
17# Do you have any other budgies?
18# What is the amount of lighting?
19# Are they inside or outside?
20# Is there any current activity ( building works ect.) near the cage?
21# Are you prepared to pay $500+ for an emergency?
22# Do you have enough room for the future babies while they fledge?
I have more questions but first can you answer these? I am a budgie breeder myself. Things don't always go to plan and YOU WILL NOT GAIN MONEY! Yesterday ( haven't posted this yet, sorry ) Marigold, my breeding female, was attacked because my other budgies managed to get through the cage divider. She, I believe, is in a stable condition but has a few wounds to the legs, feet, back and head. Her eggs were smashed and she was being blocked from the food supply. PLEASE think carefully about this!!

Doesn't it have doors? Attach it to one. No need for cutting up the cage or letting the budgies out. Even if there is no doors, just put it up higher in the cage. Simple.

The Nest box doesn't always have to be outside, but it is best to be as It would be better for inspection, especially if the birds aren't tame, you can put it inside, but it must be high up, some budgies do breed when nest boxes are on the floor, but I put mine outside the breeding cages & they are at the top of the cages. They breed fine, I have tried breeding them whilst the nest box was on the floor & I bred 6 pairs with success like this. You must make sure the birds are in full condition, or you are wasting yours & your birds time. Make sure the hen has a crusty brown cere & is chewing on wood or paper, the **** must be very lively, flies back & forth next to the hen, he must be very vocal & will do a head bobing "dance". The hen will also be vocal & will be chewing & if she has started to go in the nest box, then she will remove the bedding.
Thanks :)

2 years old is a great age to breed them, just put the nest box in & wait & see, add some bedding, if you see bedding outside the nest or has been moved around, then you will know that she has been in there, you cannot always tell if she has been in there, it can take a while, maybe they are not in condition, can you take a pic of both birds & their ceres?
Thanks
