I’m planning on getting a new bird soon, most likely a cockatiel (though possibly another budgie or other small bird) and I’ve been working on my cage setup. I’d like to get some opinions and recommendations, and I also want to ensure that it’s completely safe. The bar spacing is .6 inches and the dimensions are 30x20 inches.

Also, does anyone have recommendations on how to make the room more interesting for the bird? I can’t drill anything into the walls or hang things from the ceiling. I tried screwing some perches and toys onto the grate from an old cage, but I haven’t found a way to prop it up without putting it directly into the wall. Thanks in advance :)

No cage is 100% safe, that's just the nature of how life goes. That said, that looks very much like one of my budgie cages and it holds them well and none have got hurt on it as yet

Cage setup looks interesting, more colors and toys would be appreciated I'm sure. Is that a grapevine wreath in there? Neat idea! Just be sure it's not been sprayed with anything. As for the room you can't drill into, can you build a stand or something Maybe?

I have a 4 tiered cat stand with wheels that they can climb on and put a table top playstand on. You could put it several feet away to give them somewhere to fly back and forth.

I'd have to see the room from more angles but you could put a tension mounted shower rod in the alcove to the left or in front of the window and hang stuff from it.
