I know mature females usually have reddish eyes, but is this true of all subspecies? And if so, at what age do they change?

Flower was hatched in 2011, and has dark brown eyes; here is a picture from a week ago.

I had assumed that she was DNA sexed at some point, but all I know now is that her current foster homes thinks she was. She acts more like a female, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Just curious!

FWIW Flower in the movie Bambi was a boy, so it works either way :-)
