you could say I'am not impressed by the new vet we went to see today , my regular vet is away on vacation so I thought I would try this new vet I have heard he was a good vet well maybe with cats and dogs but not with parrots in my opinion even though he is certified avain vet it seemed like I knew more then him , Shamrock has been sneezing off and on for days he couldn't find anything wrong with him but he said he was a little dehydrated and he needed a beak trim , how can he be dehydrated when he had his afternoon feeding at 3:30 and his appointment at 5pm , scratching my head on that one and I didn't notice his beak being to long , if he keeps sneezing I'am going to take him to my usual vet next week , still wondering why he is sneezing so much , I have a blanket plus a towel and some news papers over the towel in his cage , could it be the news papers ? this is totally bugging me why is he sneezing and his nostrils aren't running
so much on that vet visit he didn't ask or say anything about blood work or weigh him , that's was a last time visit

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. My Coco was sneezing a lot and breathing a little loud a while back and ended up with an upper respiratory infection. Hope your fid is ok and it's nothing:)

Bosley was sneezing last fall, no problems with breathing or a runny nose. Vet Dias it may be allergies or dry air and to increase the humidity. We increased the humidity and he hasn't sneezed since.
We also had all cultures taken and a blood panel for other reasons and all came back fine.

Has he been getting enough beta-carotene rich food? Because they need it to produce enough phlegm to clean the respiratory system and, without it, they sneeze.

Do you have either open windows (at least in the NE, the weather has been very humid) or a humidifier where he is kept? Lack of moisture in the air would dry up their sinuses.

Has he been tested for diseases?

Ruby gets sneezy from allergies to the pompas grass in my yard this time of year when the plumes bloom out. I would wait till you're vet gets back off of vacay, If shamrock is still sneezing then. Our parrots have seasonal allergies sometimes just like people. I also called the vet the first time Ruby had sneezing, only to find out it was allergies. I am a worry wart about my pets and children.

Shamrocks cage is in the dining room an d Smokeys is in the living room they are a good 10 feet apart , he doesn't have a runny nose he just sneezes a lot , the Boysmom for the info on Avian Trio , I have it in my favs but before I try it I want to take him to my regular vet and have him checked out going to call their on Tuesday and see if I can get him in on Thursday or Friday , I have to work until then , am wondering if it's his formula maybe I have to switch him to another brand he is on Lafebers right now , its been very humid here so humidity is not a problem as far as testing him for anything he has not been tested for anything yet , the vet yesterday didn't do much of anything in my book I have to wait until my vet gets back and I'am sure he will be doing a blood test and a compete check up , as far as veggies go he isn't to interested in them right now since he is on 3 hanfeedings and he eats some Golden Feast and a small amount of TOPS organic pellets , I have been offering veggies to him for a week , he takes a few nibbles that's about it
hope he doesn't get to bad before I can get him into my reg vet

ty Boysmom for the info

If I were you, I would decrease the amount of protein in his diet and increase the fiber by mixing the formula with organic baby purees. You are feeding:
-handfeeding formula (high protein and high vitamins/minerals and no good fiber)
-pellets (high protein)
- goldenfeast (high protein)

Ekkies need A LOT of fiber and just a little protein.
