I don't think I would want to leave if I visited Australia and lived side by side all those amazing birds! For people accustomed to city pigeons and Eurotrash birds like Starilings and House Sparrows, just sub Galahs and Loris and you get the picture.
And fairy wrens! My gosh, those birds are cute! 😍

I have MORE YVONS pix! Y'all getting sick of the boi, yet? LOL!!

Yvons eyes kitchen suspitiously.webp

Is Yvonn looking for mischief? Namelisa demonstrates why open cage door to be avoided. She's currently trying to get to me. I am ignoring her. Before I finished this she was on the floor in full scrounge for trouble mood. I'm very very happy she prefers climbing and walking vs flying. Otherwise nowhere would be safe.

Never get tired of seeing members FIDs

Keep'em coming

Vortex always has such a cute expression on her face. Her white eyeliner matches her white cap which is unusual for parrots. I looked up White Crowned Pionus and saw that the eye ring is usually more a light pinkish brown color instead of white. Maybe when she gets older it will change color. Is Vortex a DNA sexed female?

The article I read said that the species name Pinonus senilis is a refernce to a (senile) old person's grey hair!

Yep! Vortex is a DNA'd female, done by Ineke Montgomery. I can't say enough about her efforts in raising Vortex and her brother. SO much sass, but very brave! As for her eye ring... I think she has another year before sexual maturity hits, so it should appear around next summer. Mind you, August (My first WC Pi) also had white eye rings. **Shrugs**

And I did not know that senilis was a reference to an old person, LOL! Cool!

I had a home project and I had some leftover wood I thought the Twins would like.
This is first time Luna worked up the courage to test it out.

That will probably become their favorite perch, high up so you can't reach them easily.
I have a cupola in my living area that my most of my birds, fortunately, never fly up into. The only birds that fly up there and sit on the window ledges are ones that aren't tame and don't know the room. If one flies up there I have to wait for them to come down because it would require a tall ladder to even get close enou

gh to them. One of my flight cage Porch Birds, Tilly, got loose a few days ago (my fault) and sure enough, she went up into the cupola! It took a couple hours to get her down and back in her cage.
Every now and then one of them perches on top of the stationary ceiling fan blades. I just knock the blade with a broomstick to scoot them off. The window sills above the eagle are a favorite perching spot. The room is a budgie paradise with the high ceilings and perching places but most of the time they sit on top of the cages on playstands which are right below the bottom of the picture out of frame so most of their poops drop right into the cages. The adjacent wall has big windows with window shelves (for clutter) but they seldom fly over snd perch there. Except Elan who likes the loon beak. She's such a Diva!
They're such creatures of habit that I don't worry about them getting into trouble while out when im not home. Any new birds need supervision.

My birds would love the view from up there.

OOooooooh! I wish I weren't in an apartment. I could die for something like that with my fids!

I don't know how my picture got in there! It was supposed to be about the house and the budgies. Now everyone knows what I look like but that's okay!
