I have given our cockatoo "Shelby" three showers in the bathtub since we rescued her. Shower massage, set on fine spray and luke warm.
The first time she really liked it, even opening her wings, putting her head in and out of the spray and on my fingers. I also have her on a stool with a wet towel for traction, so she can walk around. (She has not been scared, even today)

Since then, she has not enjoyed it, and don't know why ?

My wife has a thought. The last two showers have been in late afternoon. Is it possible that she feels it's too late ? As we see outside with our garden pond, most or all birds bathe in the morning hours.

Do you agree or think it's something else ?

(she is also molting right now)

HELP,....I want her to enjoy showering again !

Here's a shot in the dark...are you using the same towel that she stands on for traction ? Or , maybe she just doesnt want a shower , try a low pan with water in it , maybe she wants to splash around by herself. Or fill the tub up a little and give her something low to stand on so she can get into the water on her own ?

The thing is they know when they want to shower. Most parrots in the wild don't shower unless it's raining or they will go to a watering hole for a dunk.

My SC2 doesn't enjoy a shower every day either so I just hose him when he really wants to. I guess he knows when his feathers need a bath because when he is in the mood he will stay under the fine spray of the hose for an hour if i let him.

The thing is to never force a shower on your parrot. Maybe a misting from a spray bottle inbetween showers will work better.

It is possible she just doesn't feel like a bath right then. Rowdy sometimes bathes as late as 8:30pm, when I want to put them to bed:rolleyes: I do shower Pete in the mornings as that's when I usually want to shower. I often shower again at night, but it's just kind of on the late side to get him in there when I want him to start settling down for the night. Keep using the word "shower" so she learns it. Then when you say it you might get a reaction like excitement over the idea or disinterest to let you know she does or doesn't want to.

Actually, the first water experience was in the tube with a couple of inch's of water. She opened her wings a bit, but couldn't tell if she liked it or not ?

It may have been that she didn't trust me yet, now she does.
I do use the same towel and stool.

The first shower, she (and I) liked it so much, we ran out of hot water. lol,.... The next two she didn't, so we spent only about 10 minutes.

Rowdy's a freak !
8:30,....heck, we're in bed by that time.
I guess he descent care what time huh !
That's awesome.

Well, I believe we'll just try the spray bottle.

Would her going through molting have anything to do with it ?

(like you women going CRAZY with PMS) ! :smile010:

JUST KIDDING !!! :p :D

No really,... will molting change their attitude, have mood swings to even their personally ?

Well , any woman with a bad hair day will not be in the best of moods , lol.
You men havent a clue , so dont even go there ! lolol
Maybe she is having flash backs of her first shower ?

Have you tried letting her choose to bathe herself ? Offer her a low pan filled with water and see is she will step into it and splash around on her own.

Thank GOD,....I'm not a woman ! :p
I'm a breast man, so I would never leave them alone ! :D

I may try the tub again and see if she like it better than a shower. Who knows, maybe that's all she had before ?

I really hope your talking about your favorite part of the turkey.
Kids are still up at this time mister.....

Did you think I was talking about something else ??? ;) lol
We can imagine what our children find on the internet. :11:

lolol I just feel sorry for Patty and Shelby :(
And your right , the internet is a dangerous place for us kids...

And it's 8:50 pm , go to bed .

They tolerate you Kev.......big difference :p:D:white1:

Maybe you had her in the shower for too long? I would find it very boring standing in the shower for a long time...

Max's shower is only about 2-3 minutes...
