Buddy our Quaker parrot and Daisy our Cockatiel and Saphira our Eclectus!
Saphira arrived this evening from Florida! Finally it seemed like today dragged on so long!! She's doing fine...I spoke to her all the way home then let her come out of her carrier when she was ready...she's was very curious...looking around at everything. She climbed up to where her water bowl was and after checking us out picked at the toy. She's so beautiful! Bigger than I thought she would be at 4 months old. I've heard her mumble something..not sure what. I can't wait till tomorrow when there is more light....and I'll take plenty of photos!!:red::):D:D:red:

AWESOMENESS!!!! Sounds great!!! Congrats on getting her. Sounds kinda like my first night. But I was dead tired so I put a perch in his carrier and told him to step up, he did and I brought him straight to his cage. Cannot wait to see pictures of your little girl!!! Again, congrats.

Congrats on Saphira, she's very pretty! I have thought about getting a female before....They're sooooo pretty!!!! I see people sell them here all the time, maybe one day. I can only get one parrot, IF I do I have to sell my saltwater fish tank, that's the deal I made with my partner...lol I have to choose carefully....

and a warm welcome Saphira
Oh boy you sure are going to be spoilt, just like the rest of our fid's on this forum
When they mumble they are trying to speak, to express themselves, that is a wonderful sign.
Pictures please.....

Welcome, Saphira!

She's beautiful. I love ecelctus, but I'm at my bird limit so I just have to admire from afar.

Yes a warm welcome. We look forward to more stories and pic as time goes by.

Thank you everyone! We had a pretty good day...it took her awhile to start climbing around the cage, it was almost like shes never climbed up and down the side of a cage before.. but she's getting better and better. She was boxing with one of her toys, leaning down and around then jabbing up at it...like a dance lol.. I got her one of those mega munch balls from Drs. Foresters.. it's destroyed!! Guess i need to find tougher toys! I had the door open so she could come out if she wanted, however she kinda lost her grip and fell out...wasn't too good for awhile, she got scared and few here then there...I didn't just want to grab her and scare her more so i kept trying to ask her to step up, but she wouldnt then took off again, so finally i was able to pick her up from the sides (avoiding coming down on her from above) and brought her to her cage and talking quietly and calmly all the time...she did eventually reach back and grab my finger..so i got that first nip out of the way LOL i know she was still scared... she took a nap not long after...worn out from a long night and toy bashing! I have pictures so i'll load them on the computer and post them in a little while...:red:

How's it going on her first day home? Skyler is already allowing me to hold and pet him. I can give him snacks and everything and today when I got home from work he was actually what seemed to be excited to see me. I know she is a joy to have around. Definitely worth their weight in gold right?

Nice looks like I posted just after you finished typing this up. That is awesome. Wait till you get the first blood draw from her. lol. Im still bleeding a little from a bite about a half an hour. But Ant mentioned something about what she did with Mishka when he first started biting and I have been doing it with Skyler. He knows already within one days time that if I put my hand up in a ball he needs to stop. It does not surprise me that the toy is destroyed already. I am finding that these birds are very playful. Wait until tomorrow when she is a little more used to you. She will probably be stepping up with ease. Skyler would fly off like that as well and now he basically steps up on command. And when he does fly off I go sit about two feet away from where he crash lands (hehe) and wait for him to come over and he would step up on his own. Today he started playing with my shirt and the tie for my shorts. It was funny. I can't even get that knot undone. lol.

Lol about the knot. I thought of it later...I should of just let her walk around a bit. Your making me jealous! I think it's going to take a little longer with her before we can pet her! First she ate broccoli from my hand, then later i go to give her a grape and she jabs at it! What's that saying...patience is a virtue! She was talking earlier...well Saphira talk that is...I went along with it repeating what I thought it sounded like. How is Skyler doing talking...can you understand what he's saying yet?

Lol, probably about as well as you can understand Saphira. And I mimic him as well like you do Saphire trying to copy it as best as I can. I've got one day ahead of you. Just wait until tomorrow and see how she does with you. I also didn't get to spend any time with him this morning so when I got back he was ready to get out of his cage for a little bit. He was worn out and put himself to sleep by 650. I tried to get his attention again but he wasn't having it. lol. Of course, I am not going to egg him on so I covered his cage and turned out the lights. Such a baby. Mmm, brocoli. I have been giving him Apples and carrots with some pellets mixed in. And tonight he got a special, rice and beans with corn. One thing I have been doing is bringing his food to him in a small bowl at having him eat from the bowl out of my hands at first and then having him follow me to where it goes in the cage. I think it has helped with him trusting me. Not sure though. He has adapted quickly. I hope tomorrow you have this kind of luck with Saphira. I feel incredibly blessed.

Thanks...I hope so too. I'll let you know!
