Shift Work

Does anyone here work shift work? How does it work out with having birds?

I work 6:30am-3pm for two weeks and then switch to 4:30pm-1am.

I do shifts, but they change daily rather than weekly. Merlin adjusts fine, I just make sure he gets some tlc either before my shifts, or after (depending on my hours). My partner does help out, but if hes not around then if still works.

You just need to make sure you set dedicated play with your birds. Teach your bird to enjoy his alone time and you should be fine

Is it okay to wake your birds up at night as long as they have dedicated sleep time or should I only interact with the bird during day light hours?

When I am working a late night I can not sneak in with out waking everyone up! As long as they are getting there sleep they will be fine.

This is good to know and makes me feel much better. I'm used to animals whom I can only interact with during daylight hours (diurnal lizards) and I was under the impression that birds might have been similar.
