Should I???

Doesn't the dominance thing remind you of a female ekkie....lol....

Ok here's the deal, he just wan't trained right to begin with! When I got JoJo and Gracie, Gracie was the friendly one and JoJo was terrified of people, even his owner! He bites, lounges, etc. I started training him from day one. I take him out everyday 4+ times per day and 25+ minutes each time. I let him sit with me and also train him to step up over and over. Within days I can get him to step up but he was still cautious. He sits on me when I'm on the computer typing away, I bring him with me all over the house, NO other animals around!!! That's important! You don't want them to lose concentration on other things that catches their eye or scare them. I talk to him constantly and kept working with him. By a month later he steps up like a champ when I ask him to. No longer attacking me! But it took him a long time to come out of his shell. We had them for about 3 years now? I don't have a single issue with JoJo what so ever, he cuddles with me and gives me kisses. I tell him to give me a kiss, he brings his cheek to my lips and I give him a kiss while making a kissing sound, he does it right back to me. It just all depends on how you train them.

That's what I was thinking too, that this guy is acting like a female Ekkie. Does click training work very well? I have to admit, I'm not well versed at training birds, although I do know some basics. I never had to deal with a troubled bird. I have young children, and they would definitely be a distraction, even though I don't have other animals.

He wanted $600, but I would have to get a new cage. They offered the cage, but it was too small for the bird, and it was rusting out. They had a much larger cage, but they're saving that one for their cockatiel.

He was a huge screacher too. It was funny because this guy was bragging how all birds loved him because he showed them "who was the boss." This is not a dog for crying out loud.

When I left, he was probably thinking I don't know two cents about birds. He wouldn't even let me barely touch the bird because he was afraid of it attacking me. That's not proper socialization, especially with a male Eclectus. From what I hear, they're very sociable parrots.

Poor thing.

They are very sociable birds but depending on the person JoJo doesn't like everyone. There's certain people he would freak out with but he's good with my partner and I. Both of us can hold him without issues. He tried to mate with me too so I guess he sees me as his mating partner....lol....I do discourage it!

This bird kept trying to regurgitate for this guy, and he didn't discourage it, and he even said that it was a good thing.
