SICK MACAW

i have had a Scarlet Macaw for 35 years and he has always as long as i can remember had a head and wing involuntary twiching spasming and i was wondering what causes this . Also he is suffering from breathing fast and I spent 325 at the vet. they didnt even give him water made us wait 6 hrs. it appeared i giot zero for the money. Reading the little I could find maybe air sac mites? I got him from the san diego zoo and hes never been aroud other birds ever.

Don’t know about macaws in particular.
But the photo looks like a sick bird.
I am very sorry.

The twitching could be.

Neurological in nature.
It could be diet deficientcy.
It cold be heave metal poisoning.

I ain’t no vet, just my best guess.

As for the breathing.
If you are located near San Diego you may need to add a humidifier to your room/house.
It helps my older amazon to breathe better in the winter.

you can try contacting the San Diego zoo.
If anybody has a wold class veterinary care they would.
and they would have his previous medical records.

Right, you want to make sure the vet is a Certified Avian Vet, no dog and cat vet please.
