Well, I'm happy to report that Banner did eat a bunch of pellets this afternoon - I took one of the little stainless steel cups that are in his travel cage (it's a clip on), put pellets in it, and hooked it to the bars near the perch he was sitting on. He chowed down in a big way! I'm glad that he ate something. He did head down to the actual food bowls to get a drink of water, but wouldn't touch the pellets in the food bowl. Hopefully he gets used to it. If he doesn't, we'll pick up a screw-on stainless steel bowl and put it somewhere else for him.


I also accosted him with my camera again today...I'm a portrait photographer in addition to my day job, and when I shoot people I exclusively use natural light - but for some reason, I find birds especially beautiful with flash. So, here's Banner, taken with my 5D Mark 3 with a 580EX II. He was a good sport!

Wow! That second to the last shot is fabulous! I expect to hear music in the background and little angels to be flying about! It looks like old religious pictures I've seen where a saint is looking upward and angels are in the background! LOL I love it! He is adorable!

Great pictures. I wonder if they ever gave him a bath at the store. I bet his colors really pop once you get a few good spray baths out of the way. Some birds need to get through their first couple molts to get really sparkly feathers though. He's a nice looking bird but some of those brushed out chest feathers will probably come together after a bath. For what its worth, I still think he's a nape.

Yep, I find the results are better with a flash even with the sunlight streaming in the window.
We all love pictures at Spring Cottage, including Casper - he also enjoys U-tube parrots so much I think he will start to talk with an american accent.

We plan to take Banner in for a "well bird" check up in the next 5 days. I'll ask the avian vet what he thinks Banner is!

DNA should be back in about a week as well. It'll be interesting if he turns out to be a girl!
