My conure just turned one a few weeks ago. I know he will go through a hormonal stage soon. After doing some research and reading old posts about hormonal behavior. I learned to increase his sleep and keep his cage in a dark place. Also to pet/scratch him less. However, my question is: say I'm petting him (head, cheeks) and he starts to show signs of hormonal behavior(biting, feather plucking, territorial) I would obviously stop petting him but should I place him in his cage? That's usually the only dark place I have for him to calm down. I could leave him on a perch or toy around the room, outside of his cage but I think he will fly and follow me and continue his hormonal behavior. Is putting him in his cage when showing signs of hormonal behavior bad? I don't want him to think of his cage as something bad… Also any tips or advice on how to deal with it are appreciated!
