silly question about toys

I have been visiting different websites checking around for different toy pieces to order so I can experiment with home made toys. My green cheek chews obviously, but nothing compared to the damage my blue crown can do. When ordering beads for a larger bird is there a certain size I'm looking for? It looks like most toys have the smaller beads...he snaps them in half and if they dont drop on the floor I have to wrestle the pieces out of his beak.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions to where they think a great place for ordering toy parts and such things please let me know. I usually drive 2 hours to the nearest big bird store but I dont get there very often..I just like it because I can actually see with my own eyes what I'm buying when there.

It's a good idea to get toys big enough, birds can grab with their beaks, but take awhile to gnaw on. The semi-hard plastic or wooden chains, seem to be the best manufactured toys for long term chewing.

It may take awhile for them to warm up to these 'new' objects' around them, but eventually their curiosity will get the better of them.

I think the particular toys I bought had a variety of different size beads attached and the smaller ones just dont stand a chance. Everything thats big and chunky are safe and I havent had a problem with him yet. I will check out the empty tissue box thread for sure!

If you are near a craft store they would have some wooden beads. have fun!!

Popsicle sticks and tongue depressors also make good inexpensive toys and can be found in many craft stores, dollar stores or drug stores, drill a hole through the middle and string them together with some sisal twine, if you want to color them you can use a non toxic food coloring such as those from "India Tree" made from natural vegetable coloring

they have all different sizes of beads and things
and seem rather well priced ( although Im not sure not living in America myself )
