Last night, as we played before bedtime, I was able to get some views of Skittles plummage from some odd angles. While I have always admired his coloring, plummage and markings, I never new his feathers were iridescent (if that is the correct word). Depending on how the light hits the feathers, the colors take on a glow-like appearance. I took a bunch of photos to demonstrate, but the camera was unable to pick up this change.

Either way, the change in the blues, yellow and greens were truly spectacular.

It makes him even more special to me.

The amazon colours are amazing, catching them in different angles of sunlight truly reveal the depth of their beauty!!

Yes I totally agree. Amazon plumage is spectacular is the correct light :)

Skittles is a beautiful bird. I find this same effect occurs with my GW Macaws feathers. Our birdie buddies are just beautiful! :D

I was trying to figure how to explain the change in colors. It was like looking at a living bid in a cartoon world, almost surreal. Either that or comparing colors under natural verses black light conditions.

Either way, I was impressed with the spectacularness of one of God's creations, and at the same time, I felt that I was priviledges to have the opportunity (maybe mental clarity) to pick up on the differences.
