Hi guys.

I painted the walls of my parrot's room a month ago with a low VOC washable paint (max 1g/l) and you can still feel the smell of the paint in there (not as strong as day one, but I'd still say quite strong), especially if the windows and door are closed for a few hours. Windows in that room have been open most of the time (except during the night). My bird is not in that room, before painting I moved him to my bedroom. I was wondering, is it safe to move him there anytime soon or should I wait until the smell completely goes away (which doesn't seem to happen anytime soon)?

Good for you for being so careful!
I am absolutely paranoid and I advise the same attitude for you, barring contrary knowledgeable advice from an authority here.
Besides, I bet your bird LIKES it in your bedroom! :)

So, how many coats did you apply? Sometimes multi-coats can slow the drying process and result in much longer drying.

If your humidity has been high, this will also have a slowing effect on the paint!

Now there is a different between the VOC and the 'smell' of fresh paint aroma that can exist for as long as a year after a room has been painted. Painted rooms should be left open (especially the door(s)) for as long as possible to other parts of the home.

Thanks for your replies.

Two coats were applied. It wasn't that humid.
I wish I were able to distinguish between the smell of paint and VOC (but it was a low VOC paint).

And thank you plumsmum2005 for the link, but I tried with vinegar, baking soda and charcoal, didn't notice any difference. :(
I guess I'll wait a week more and then put him back there.
