So this morning, my groceries were delivered. As I was trying to put them away, and trying to cut up Bundii's food for the week, Bundii was getting impatient. So I decided she could "help". So Bundii's method of helping, is hanging upside down from the front of my shirt trying to grab the knife. Obviously, this is not going to work.

Next I try putting her on the table stand that I have for her but she won't use. I was thinking that she might use it this time as she really wanted to "help". Nope it is still going to eat her alive - or so she would have you think. Back to plan A. She can sit on my arm/shoulder and I will bat her away when she goes for the knife. Small success. The task that normally takes half an hour, took over one and a quarter. But I just could not put her back in her cage as she was actually wanting to spend time with me. A rare occasion.

I just wish I had thought to take some pics. There is nothing quite like a 50 cm Alex hanging from the front of shirt, tail in your face and you trying not to chop your finger off. Please do not misunderstand - Bundii was never in any harm. I was watching her very carefully.

Any ways fast forward a few hours and I have made chicken and sweet corn soup - love the fact that winter is coming and you can have soups. No help from Bundii on this one. She was catching up on some sleep after a busy morning. The slow roast pork shoulder has been on for 4 hours and just waiting on hubby to come home from work in a couple of hours. Bundii's way of helping is to yell every time the timer on the oven goes off. Now you would think after the third or so time it has gone off, she would realise that I too, can hear it and get up to change it, but no. Every single time, she "helps".

Anyways Sunday is nearly over and I just wanted to share the "help" that I received today via one very "helpful" Alex. ;)

Maybe next week, when we will probably do the same thing all over again.

Aww, Bundii sounds like a great helper:) I was cracking up reading that and could definitely picture her hanging off your shirt while you stretch to look around so you don't lose a finger!
I am looking forward to that video next week!

Love it!!! How cute and funny. I want to see that picture too.

LOL! I love Bundii Bird! She's such a great little Mummy's helper, isn't she? When I make soups and stews, I just have the Beaks on the table with me and allow them to rummage amongst the garbage and offcuts. Every now and again, they'll nick a bit of the good stuff out of the pot, but I don't mind. It's a very fulfulling activity: preparing food with Alexes helping. There should be more of it! Oh and please - next time Bundii helps you, do take photos! Aunty Trisha wants to see!

So cute! Diesel does the same.

Doesn't do much for your 'décolletage' having scratches all down your front LOL.

I don't know what parrots think, but I'm thinking its something along the lines of 'wow, shiny, moving food:green:, shiny' LOL

I'm not a jealous person at all but reading these posts about Alex's are making me seriously envious. What wonderful birds, I really want one.

Allee, you totally need an Alex:) You will never regret it!

I second what Terry said. Alex's are awesome. The red beak can be a little scary at times. Ut you get used to it. Especially when it is right in your face. :)

Your right. It does not do much for you décolletage but what is a few scratches when, you have such an awesome helper, right? Right? :)

I still get nervous from Xander's beak, even though he has never even offered to bite any of us...and I cannot imagine my life without him now:)

Terry I can speak from experience. That red beak hurts. Bundii has unfortunately gotten me a couple of times. The worst one was completely my fault and she just reacted like a bird would. I moved a little too quick and she instinctively when to grab with her beak ( she lost balance) and my finger was the first thing she grabbed. It was split open and I had blood pouring down my arm. It all happened like it was in slo mo. I just stood there with blood dripping down my arm and looking at Bundii and hubby. Hubby was like you better go clean that up. Well duh!!! Anyways that type of thing doesn't happen any more. She and I have both gotten better.

And Bundii is so gorgeous! I love her:) I am so glad that doens't happen anymore.
Xander did something new today...he actually took a bath in the dish I put on his cage for bathing! I am so proud of him:)

Way to go Xander. This is one on Bundii's favourite things to do.

Sounds so cute Amanda! I hope you can get video next time :) Your dinner sounds delicious too :32:

Everyone should have at least one Alex at some time in their life. I LOVE my Beaks and they love me back. In fact, all our Alexes here on the forums are just spectacularly beautiful, loving, intelligent companions. Sigh... and there isn't even a recognisable icon for them in the icon selection...

Barney and Madge send a shout out to all their Alexandrine friends. :D :D :D
