:28:.... :23:... Strange birds!!

I don't eat corn often, but I had some so I shared a few pieces with Robin. Then I went over to Raven and Griffin... I thought for sure ALL birds NATURALLY like corn! Especially since it has little nutritional value, of course they'll like it!!

Nope. They looked down at it and stared as if to say "what in the heck IS this? Is that food or something?" I even did what I knew wouldn't work because it never works with my birds, I ate some and showed them how good it was :32: with corn falling out of my mouth, making noises... *just kidding!*

Anyway, it just surprised me.

That is an interesting reaction. I've never met a parrot who hated corn before! Then again, before we got Kiwi, I'd never met a parrot who hated peanuts and would fling them to the floor either. Funny how they all have their own special little likes and dislikes:) I do wish you've gotten a pic of 'the reaction'.

I wish I had a pic too, but I was just SO sure they'd love it like normal parrots!
I bet if they just tried it they'd say yum! I thought it was just natural for birds to 'know' corn kernels are food :52:.

Yeah, peanuts are another one parrots love. Kiwi doesn't like peanuts?! How about sunflower seeds? That is one that R&G haven't had yet. They love safflower as does Robin.

I think Raven and Griffin have had peanuts before. Robin LOVES unshelled peanuts, but I stopped giving them when we started hearing more about even the unshelled ones being unsafe. Well, he's had maybe 2 decades of eating peanuts with no ill effects, but you never know I guess! I'm sure if I'm eating nuts one day and there are peanuts on occasion I'll give a couple to Robin.

Hi,

My parrots go mental over corn on the cob....warm up a whole corn on the cob till tender then let cool. Fresh corn on the cob is a bit tough for them, though they like the idea of having to work for their food. I cut the cob into 1 inch sections, so they can hold it and pull corn from the cob.....you should see their faces. It's a treat for them.

When I want to treat the sennies I put a small piece of roasted corn on the cob on the skewer and hang it for them. They go nuts.

I've never met a bird that doesn't like corn

This was loose pieces of corn. Once I had a bird eat the cob and all... didn't instinctively know where to stop I guess! It worried me about getting impacted so she stopped getting corn cobs!

Now I can say I've met two.

First time I gave my Macaw corn he also did a double take and would not touch it . I broke some open for him and the silly bird realized what it was then. He makes a total mess eating it but loves it now.

All of mine love corn, but it must be on the cobb. Loose kernels from a bag are dissed as inferior products!

I so wish my birds didn't love it so much! Phoe would be completely happy eating only corn..on the cob, off the cob, from a bag...he couldn't care less. I put some yellow lentils in there and he went after it like he does corn, but quickly squawked and threw it to the floor...he is unfoolable when it comes to corn.

I also wish you had been able to get a picture of their confused looks!
