Parrots
1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
I sell on ebay, and since my husband has totally taken over our desk, I have been "banished" to the couch/cofee table as my makeshift desk/office. Kiwi doesn't mind though, as he loves being on the couch, watching me (and occasionally coming over to play with my hair clip:52: or ask to go home to go potty;)). This is the kind of cuteness I'm subjected to when I'm listing stuff:

Hello there!

Such a good boy!

And later on he did some "exercises" with Joe (note the position of the little parrot foot, he imitates my husband stretches to the best of his abilities, or just starts dancing when he can't)

He also recently discovered he could crawl from his play stand to his t-perch:

He decided to bring along a toy this time. It took me a while to figure out how toys were ending up in the bottom of his t-perch when I had never given them to him on there:eek:. I think he's been tossing them in, then climbing over. Busted in the act!:

Those all made me say aww! Super cuteness from Kiwi yet again!! I love the exercise pic :D

Beautiful Kiwi photos. The exercise one is so cute. :). His colouring is beautiful and his feathers just glow.

So cute...I hope someday my BFA learns how to play...!

Ha Ha [thanks for the laugh] :) I like the work out one :)

Aww...he's really beautiful! Love all the pics!

I love the first 2 pictures so much omg :) :) :)

Glad everyone enjoyed:) It's so adorable with the little foot up:D When Joe is doing stuff like sit-ups and push ups, he will start waving his head around and spinning in circles. He loves his exercise time!

@Phlox- BFAs are curious little birds. I'm sure Iris will come out of her shell soon and start showing you what a hilarious/smart/naughty little thing she can be;)

EIA- Is that not the cutest thing to see a little head poking up above the pillows? Even in prior apartments where the couch was orientated differently, Kiwi has always loved and claimed THAT corner as "his" corner lol. Theres still a couple tiny puncture marks from before he knew better than to chew our furniture:54:

How on earth can you get any listing done with that much absolute adorableness surrounding you??
That exercise picture made me giggle:)

He is such a handsome bird. The exercises are too cute! I wouldn't be surprised if he just flies over to that T-perch with the toy in his mouth. He looks strong enough to do it. :)

I had something similar happen a month ago, only I was the kicker instead of the kickee. I brought a pregnant stray cat in and needed my husband's office to lock her up separate from my animals until she had the kittens. He graciously moved to the living room sofa with PB and she had a blast for the 2 weeks he was out there. The sofa became a 2nd playstand. I think every scrap of fleece I had in the house got draped across the sofa to catch poop though. LOL

Kiwi can't fly, can't even "hop" but he's an excellent climber and compensates well for what he lacks;) He's strong too. In his cage or on his play stand, when he drops a toy, he will go pick it up and carry it all the way back up to his platform of whatever perch he wishes to play with it on. It's pretty amazing to watch because he can climb with rather large toys (like his baby rattles, which are his favorite type of toy ever) in his beak no problem!

Have you ever considered potty training PB? Theres 3 methods- train to potty on command, train to return to a designated area (if flighted) or train to alert you when they need to go potty (for clipped/non-flghted). I don't know if I could handle Kiwi being a non-potty trained bird. He makes rather large/nasty poops I don't fancy cleaning up off the carpet/furniture:52:

Sorry I didn't know this about him! :o That must so adorable watching him carry a rattle around though.

PB will wait and potty in the toilet first thing every morning. I'm fairly certain she knows "bombs away" means go potty, as we say it every morning while holding her over the toilet and when we see her poop. Many times she'll even make the squatting motion when I say it to her a few times. For whatever reason, she just won't potty on command during the rest of the day yet. I think a large part of this is changing of routine the last month+ since she chose my husband as her person and fuzzy chaos has reigned supreme in our home (stray kittens, remodel work, yadda yadda). In addition, PB has only recently learned to fly and much of our training effort has been diverted to recall and dealing with her new flighted attempts to thwart our sanity. :p

I'm so glad you brought this up though. It's a reminder that we need to buckle down and get this potty training finished already. PB likes to sit on my husband while he works, but I doubt he'd notice any potty signals from her if he was busy. Now that she can fly and has a new cage in the office, I think the best solution to our potty woes (lol) is to teach her to fly to the cage for business. I'll have to start nagging my husband to remember her potty training. :09: (Do you ever listen to yourself and wonder, "When did I become 'that' woman?!" My poor husband probably says, "Yes dear," in his sleep. LOL)

No worries:) We adopted Kiwi when he was around 10 y/o, and were told he had been clipped since he was a baby and never learned to fly. We did *try* to teach him, but it wasn't happening and he genuinely seems to have no concept of it. He does like to go outside though, so it's a matter of take away something he loves doing already (being outside) or put in a TON of effort so he can fly 5 feet from his cage to the couch and never go outside without being caged again.... He does love baby rattles/plastic keys though. He has more baby toys than most babies lol. I actually take the bigger ones and drill holes in them so I can hang smaller toys and beads and buttons and whatnot and he goes wild. We trained him not to chew outside his cage, and he seemed to have learned a tad too well, so he prefers foot toys and noise toys to chewable ones now. Works out though since I can wash em up and reuse the parts over and over;)

I vote for starting the potty training! You wouldn't not potty train a kid, litter box train a cat or housebreak and indoor dog would you? Why allow a bird to poop anywhere it pleases;) It's nice not to have them leave droppings all over the place:D Kiwi will come over and lift up his foot for a ride when he has to go potty (or just wants to go home). If I'm not paying attention, he will get my attention by tugging my shirt or hair. He hasn't had an "accident" in several years, so once they learn, they don't slip up.

I always love your pics of Kiwi:) He is such a beautiful boy. The exercise photo is great! My gccs like to land on random body parts when I do yoga instead of copying...they can learn a lot from Kiwi:D

Kiwi sounds like such a great fid! I might have to hire him to tutor my darling in etiquette. :p

How cute is that! My Blue Front like to crawl all over the place, too! Wonderful photos!

He's a cute, hot mess. I love the foot photo. I showed husband and he said he's trying to grab Joe's finger. My response, whatever. He said this because if he tries to rub Buddy's head, Buddy tries to grab his finger so he can pull his finger to his beak, lol. You know what Buddy is planning next. And that first couch photo, it screams "headrub" but I know that is a fatal move, lol.
