Is it just me, or do people actualy have what I would like to now call, the "Species Disease." Those of you who plan on getting birds, have those phases where you're like, ohhhh I want that species and vow to get it. Then you do all possible research on it. But then, a week or two later, you fall in love with a different species, and vow to get that one instead. Then do all possible research on it. And on and on and on. LOL Mine changes like every day or two. I got it bad. Guess this is what happens when you're bird crazy and have a "bird brain" LOL! BTW, my species phase is set on Hawk-Headed Parrots and Peacocks. But it'll probably change in a doy or two. hahaa :D

Hawkheads are great, though really expensive, and believe me, you DO NOT want peacocks......lol

Don't worry Bob, they'll pass eventually, LOL! With a new parrot(s) to take their place

You'r right you don't have "species disease", you have "Bird Crazy disease". I'm so sorry, there is nothing your doctor can do? All we can do is send all our love your way and hope it fades naturally ;) hehe lol

lol, yeah, I've done this as well (not just with birds either!). :p It's a sickness, I tell you! Hang in there though, they may find a cure! :D

I also suffer from this from time to time. Right now I'm set on an Eclectus and a Samoli cat LOL. It's lucky I'm smart enough to know I will probably never have all the time and money for the amount of animals I would like to care for.

Wish I could have a nice sanctuary!

Thanks guys! Feels so much better to know I got your support! Good thing there's no cure. I kind of like this disease! LOL!

I had it really bad...until we got Popcorn. We're just bird-sitting him until my in-laws come back from vacation, but he's a handful! Great bird, just needs to be an "only" bird. When I found my bird limit, my disease went away.

I no longer read about birds incessantly. I too, wanted a Hawkhead...and actually had an opportunity to buy one, but it was untamed, and I was afraid. I think many people, like me, keep going, until they get what they want. I finally have what I want. My little guys for sweetness, Levi for cuddling, and Freddie...just because he's Freddie, and so much fun! I'm finished...thank goodness! You will get there too!:)

Species disease? No but I have had multi bird syndrome, where you only ever wanted "a parrot" you finally get it, have it for a while and then can't resist adding to it until one day you realise your house resembles an aviary. The size of your house dictates the length of time you have this disease for.

I think we have the same disease, that's why I have at least 2 of everything

Uh oh... I hope this isn't the only cure!

Because it will take me awhile to get to my 'bird limit'.

I know, right? If this is the only cure, my house will become a jungle! Oy vey ! LOL

Beware of the Toucan bug. Once you get that strain of the virus it's hard to shake.

I had it a few months ago. Oh I begged and begged my parents to get me a Toucan for Christmas. Then it passed, LOL.

Oh my, three people in a row have suffered from this. Ap, AD, and myself!

I totally wanted a toucan for awhile. I literally had myself a click away from making an offer on one from a breeder, and I noticed that the website said 'call for pricing'. Reading this, I was unaware just how much these birds really were. I went researching, and found out what the usual pricing is for the toucan I was interested in... well, let's just say it gave me terrible sticker-shock!
