We all know cleaning the cage is a chore.
But i am wondering does it get easier with a steam cleaner?
I have a row of bars on each cage i do now with a toothbrush,it's the only brush small enough to reach.
But also for my floor and such, and the toys.
I have never seen a steam cleaner just heard here and their on this forum,i am watching some youtube videos but i do not find them all to clear.
Should you use vinegar with it or not?

NO.

I just use water. And it has a scrub brush attachment. The superheated steam kills the germs, which is the advantage. No chemicals, and stuck on poop quite literally just melts away, and gets wiped down with a poop cloth.

MAKE SURE THE BIRD IS OUT OF THE CAGE!!! IT'S VERY HOT. WE DON'T WANT ANY BURNS HERE...

This is what I use. Sure makes cage cleaning day easier!!!

I don't use vinegar with my steam cleaner- the hot scolding steam is enough lol mine came with a bunch of different tips and one is a metal brass one which is nice for scrubbing poop off. Or you can just not use a tip and blast it off... It also works to clean floors too.

Don't worry i never clean my cages with the bird in it,my fingers wouldn't survive.
Does anyone of you know which type would be good?
I don't know whether the brands are the same here but maybe you could link some types so i can compare with the brands here?
But it is easier with the steam cleaner?
For toys also?

This is the one I have:

Gruene Clean System Steam Mop & Hand Held Steamer w/ Attachments by Gruene [ame="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0044EPOKE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_agdrtb1CY1Y3N"]Amazon.com - Gruene Clean System Steam Mop & Hand Held Steamer w/ Attachments - Household Steam Mops[/ame]

You can detach the body to carry it around and attach the tips to clean cage bars or scrub stuff off wherever, it also does floors really well- you can even just attach a hand towel to the bottom instead of worrying about "special pads"

I don't even remember how I survived before handheld steam cleaners came along. I can't imagine having a bird room and NOT having a steam cleaner.

The one I posted is the top rated non-professional model. And it does the job. This is actually my third steam cleaner.

The professional models start at $700 and go up from there...

Can't understand any of it (lol) but it looks schnazzy!!! Let us know how it works out for you! :D

That's the ticket! Looks almost identical to the one I've got.

Frankly, about a week into using this thing, you'll probably wonder how you lived without it. Seriously, I have five large macaw cages, and four large playstands to clean. A good steam cleaner makes an 8 hour job into a 2-3 hour job... with no chemicals needed. I still mop my floors cuz it's faster, but for cages you can't beat these things!

i got 2 cages but they have a lot of difficult places to reach ,yeah i took the pretty ones.
And i got play stands in my whole room, well my room is one big one.
My mother has about 6 cages downstairs,we also have a stone floor and a dog who doesn't have bladder control anymore.
So yeah it would be nice to be able to clean that good in an nice time span.

also they are in my bedroom, which isn't really big.
If i let them fly when cleaning the cages how far should they be from the cleaner?
there is the change they will drop by.

Just as long as they aren't in the stream of the spray. My guess is it will scare them enough that they won't be.

i'm glad ,mine are pretty much scared of anything so that works out.

well i got him,and am already busy with the cages.
But i am wondering do you do each cage bar or only the bad ones and mist the rest?

I would never use vinegar that is heated especially near a bird. I have read it is very toxic to them and has caused many deaths. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I figured id throw it in.

i knew not to heat it but didn't know why ,thank you.

I am not sure if its true or not.. but I read in a couple places that when its heated, it releases strong carbon oxide vapors... and as we all know birds a very sensitive. I wouldn't risk it though.

At the bird sanctuary I volunteered at, they used a shark steamer on the bars and then took those blind cleaner things and ran them down the bars. It worked great!

I need to have those!!!!
Thanks you,for the picture else i would never gotten it.
I have never seen them lol.
But i am ready with the cages costed me 1 hour and 15 min!!!!!!!!Record time!!
normally it would take me that alone for the difficult bar row and the crate.

I usually steam/scrub things and then take the grates and pans outside to hose them off, and then dry real quick with a hand towel
