Strange new habit of grinding beak

Good day! Can anyone tell what my parrot(female, 10 yo) is trying to do with his beak(on the video). She can do it for a very long time, but it doesn't look like beak grinding in relaxed state. It seems she is doing something with full concentration, as if trying to sharpen her lower jaw?! So it lasts for 2-3 month... Any ideas what happens??? Thank you.

Not a vet, but could it be adjusting its crop or possibly trying to fix an itchy ear or something similar?
Does he/she only do it around certain people?

Have you had the bird checked recently by a vet?

Is that a metronome making that sound, or it it the parrot?
Because either way... waaay to much in sinc. to be an accident - so he is making that sound or just clicking along.

I have no idea what your bird is doing. maybe someone will come along who has a clue.

The noise isn't so weird, but the moves have a stereotypic motor display or other unusual quality...

Enzo doesnt do this, so i cant help. Has she got something stuck in her beak at all? Enzo also takes care of her own nails and beak by biting her nails and rubbing her beak on abrasive surfaces so id discount the manicuring option. Id agree in a vet visit for piece of mind, maybe the vet can initially view your video, maybe it would suffice?

Check make sure their isn't something foreign stuck on in the beak first and foremost. Perjo is very particular about keeping her beak clean, she'll spend 30 minutes making sure nothing is stuck on it. Probably in part b/c I say "wipe off your beak" 10 times a day and she understands what I'm telling her.

A vet is probably best option.

I think because of the "tone" people are looking for something off, but...beak grinding usually just means the bird is content. And in your post you seem to know that, but I mean maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but looking at the video it just seems like a happy calm well adjusted bird comfortable in it's surroundings.

Offer a treat, I guess, if he stops grinding then it's not anything he's to concerned about...
I tend to not worry about the small stuff but I think if you had titled the video look at this cute grinding...all the responses would be like, yep that is one content bird.

That's pretty odd...Is he still doing this? If so, how often?

Is he doing this right after he eats? It's almost like he's got something stuck in his Crop or his jaw/beak/mouth that he's trying to get out...Or it's just the way he adjusts his Crop...I'd say if it continues on a regular basis you need to get him to a CAV and get it checked out, because that's a very odd..

- Appie's beak and throat move exactly the same way when she makes a *click*sound.
