Okay, I love this! I wanna set up video playdates with other birds now. This is so cute and awesome.
When I first joined and it was Salty's 1st birthday, I set up a video party with the RIckeybird and Amy, Jim's BFA. Only the RB attended, Jim was too much of a Luddite to get it together. Plus the RB made any kind of communication next to impossible. Gale was laughing too!

I love this! I have a buddy who has parrots but can’t currently afford to take them to the vet, so we can’t do in-person playdates. I am totally going to try to talk her into virtual playdates now!

The Twins I think would love ❤️ it.
Bingo would show extreme indifference.
I don’t think Bella would find it interesting either.

Ekko and Charley would love this!! I see a playdate for both of them in the near future, thanks so much for posting this, Tyler!

Well I can’t see it because it’s behind a paywall, but it looks like the NYT article has photos!

This video looks like it might be where the NYT got their video.

That’s so neat! I’ll put Ona on a video call if anyone wants to try it 😊

I am going to have to see if I can get my kids old tablet to charge - we have that same kids case I can hang next to his playstand.

Maybe I will make him his own Apple ID, haha. What video chat programs should I use though? I’d love to let him call some of you guys!

FaceTime comes built in to apple devices
or Skype works well.

I know it's an old post, but I was wondering if anyone tried this? I have a lonely budgie who needs friends.

Oh no... Now one of my birds wants the latest iPhone and the other wants the latest Samsung... 😂

But it's for this reason that I think it's better for parrots to be kept with at least one other parrot. That avian company can only be healthy for them even if they don't get along very well

The problem I have with getting a second bird is this one was wild (but was banded and familiar to humans) and I heard you can't mix store -bought birds with wild birds. (Although I'm not sure what my bird is considered anyway)

@Blacktop - I honestly don't think they make that distinction between store bought or wild. I mean how would they know? Secret handshake? Password? Sounds like some old wife's tale to me. But you can honestly never tell in advance how 2 parrots will react to each other; there are 3 basic reactions. 1 - they hate each other but like you, 2 - they love each other, but now distain being with you or 3 - they tolerate each other and remain friendly to you, with many other variations on this. And your original parrot now gets 1/2 the time spent with you and you get 2X the clean up, food and medical bills.
