Is it safe to cook ready meals in their plastic container, either in the oven or the microwave.

I don't eat ready meals, I have no reason to when I can cook very nice meals with leftovers for less than what 2 ready meals cost.

But, my mother in law lives off the things and I need to make sure they're OK before I go to Scotland as I'll need to find alternative solutions as she doesn't cook for herself

I understand that using the heating portion of a MRE gives off toxic fumes.

The only ref I have found so far is this
Can you put plastic ready meals in the oven?

CPET (Crystallized Polyethylene Terephthalate) CPET is made from #1 plastic that has been crystallized to increase its temperature tolerance. It can typically withstand temperatures between 32 degrees Fahrenheit (F) and 400 degrees F. As a result, CPET is safe to use in the oven up to 400 degrees F.29 Oct 2020

Do we have any scientists who would know about CPET?

Could she decant them from the shop container to another dish to heat, or even onto a plate just to be on the safe side?

I think I'll have to ask her to. It's not worth albie's health and life (dramatic I know) to risk it.

I might even batch cook a bunch of meals for her
