I really would like to get a sulfur crested cockatoo after i do all my research that i need to do. if i feel like this is the right bird for me i would love to get one...but i live in an appartment...Is it even possible to have one in an apartment, are they REALLY that loud?

They can get pretty loud. My citron (A subspecies of lesser sulphur crested)
is quite loud. I live by myself on a farm so it isnt a problem. But I will never need a doorbell. Baka my citron is louder than the large macaws I used to have.

There is no such thing as a quiet cockatoo species, but there are quiet individuals. You may have a hard time finding one and no one can be certain of making one. But I don't want to tell you you can't do it either.

yes they are LOUD, I think it depends on your neighbors landlord and such as to whether you want to make a go or if you're prepared to move not get rid of the bird if it doesn't work. You might try finding a resuce where you could foster one in your home for a while to see how it goes.

Yes, they are really that loud. I am advising you to not get a Cockatoo living in an apartment. They are the most Sensative snuggly bird and really crave your attention and affection. If you pay attention to someone or something else they get Jelous and scream. If someone gets loud outside and it makes them happy or mad, they will scream. And when they treaten to throw you out, you are going to be devistated. Because they are the funniest, most loving clowns you could ever imagine. Your heart will belong to him or her. So don't put yourself through it.

If you don't listen and get one anyway, I want it when you have to get rid of it.;):D

No Way toos and confined space mix.
My Corella is quiet most of te time, till he wants something.
Then he is piercingly loud, and relentless.
The Galah is chatty, but has never screamed yet.

Red,

I think you should post the video you have of the Professor and Skippah umm....vocalising. I think it's when The Professor wanted out of the gate and you wouldn't open it for him or something like that.

I went to the bird store the other day and they had a pretty Moluccan. Then it opened it's beak and I remembered why we got rid of Petry.

Done and done.
Here is the bird unhappy that I wont open the gate for him. The other bird is screaming coz I am not patting him.

Red that was great! Is the Professor having a wee temper tantrum?
Those two 'toos shure seem to have a lot of self-esteem:D.

Prof wanted that gate opened.
He likes throwing the stones on the driveway around, but I don't like him out the front coz we don't have a fence right now. He was just trying to get my attention.
Here is some more loud behaviour.

That was friggin hilarious! How graceful! What a personality. I'd love to show your videos to everyone who has told me how skitzy rosebreasteds can be. The professor looks like one of the most well-adjusted and happy pet birds I've ever seen.

The swan didn't stand a chance. Although a couple of times there it threw the Professor on his back and pinned him to the table.
I take back my previous statement; it seems your bird is mentally ill.
I could watch your videos all day:D.

Quality.
But you sure do make it hard for him to clip out the coupons.
What does the Professor do with a role of paper towels?

dealing with apartments and any animal is difficult. i got lucky cuz my neighbor is totally cool with us letting arcee have her screaming time during the day, but i think thats mostly because i'm his nanny, and his little girl loves me. how long are you going to be in that apartment? maybe a differnt bird is a better idea, i dont think i'd ever be able to deal with a bird like the professor, especially in our apartment, even with a cool neighbor.
