Hello all !! I am new to the forum, and hopefully you help me educate myself with your experience.
I always had birds, but never parots. Last June I purchased a 4 week old baby sun conure un sexed that I hand reared with super love :)Lets say its a he :) He is an amazing bird and not a screamer. He only screams 3 times a day furiously. In the am when it hears my foot steps off bedroom, 2pm ish when my daughter come from school, and super screams in the eve around 730ish when it hears my car in the garage. THis is all due as he awaits cuddles, scratching, kisses, some singing and food !! Well, believe it or not after very few months, he learned some words and he repeats them without being given any treats. My concern is. 1) He still wants to be fed 3 time a day with the baby food I use versele laga nutri bird a19 & along the months introduced him to fine grain pellets and now even bigger ones. Along I give him daily apples too. Sometimes some nips from other fruits. He eats with no problems but still screams for hand feeding. How long shall I prolong this? Is it harmful to continue feeding him this baby food? Also lately he is changing the behaviour but think this is because of puberty? He sometimes do noises of like joy and pleasure and he tends to bite but not with mean of hurting us. Also he always try to run up to our shoulders and if he manage he goes straight behind our necks where we cannot reach him lol ! We try not to let him on shoulders, but only on fingers which he is used to. The only reason for not letting him on shoulders is because he do poo poo frequent and we never managed to control him to do it in one place :) .
sorry for long post, and appreciate your feedback.

If you continue the food then he will continue asking for it. It's not necessary. If he is eating his pellets then you can cut the baby food out. As for it being bad for him, I don't know. It could be if he isn't getting enough adult food or too much baby food. The needs of the older bird may be more than what the baby food has in it.

Otherwise, just keep working with him and training him. If you aren't consistent with the training then he won't learn or potty train. Patience and consistent is the KEY to training. Steady does it.

You don't need to be feeding him formula at that age, but I wouldn't suggest cutting it out all at once. Instead, skip the morning feeding. Discontinue the mid-day feeding a few days later. Give him some time to adjust and he should stop asking for it. Eventually you will be able to stop the evening feeding as well.
