Anyone else feed sunflower kernels to their CAG? I’m aware of the nutritional values, curious if they’re anything to be concerned about if they are fed to a CAG a few days a week as treats?

Perjo loves them.

A great food! A fantastic treat for rewards! Just a bit high-ish in fats! You can also sprout them!

Your opinion on the quantity that equals moderation?

I do, but the little seeds and as treats occasionally. Enzo loves them

Safflower seeds are better but used sparingly. Fresh foods are best. Sunflower kernels are high in fat. I wouldn’t advise giving him sunflower kernels.

Hello coquette, and welcome!

There’s nothing wrong with sunflowers, unto themselves. They are actually quite nutritious. The problem comes when they become all the main source of nutrition as part of a terrible diet. This is how they came to have a bad reputation.

As Scott and FLboy said above, in moderation they are actually great additions to a diet. Moderation being the key.
