Talk about anything

A roast beef sandwich and a can of Pepsi, the highlight of my day. Taking a break from Massive Bird Mess Cleaning Day. I have a large cage, 5 feet x 2 feet x 3 feet with a center plywood divider, on my adjacent enclosed porch. 8 budgies live in this cage- 4 girls on one side and 4 boys on the other because if they so much as see each other the girls will start laying eggs. This cage is very difficult to clean thoroughly so I mostly don't except for the cage paper every few days. The mess in the porch was getting to be pretty awful. Up until a couple months ago cleaning it was almost impossible because It needs to be cleaned outdoors with a pressure washer. There was no way to get the cage outside from the porch without carrying it through the living area up 5 steps, through the bedroom and out the back door. But we just built a large flat deck off the porch so I no longer had a good excuse for neglecting the horrid mess. Plus I have to take all the resident budgies out and put the boys and the girls into separate cages into order to clean the big cage. These budgies aren't tame so I need to net them to get them out and I hate doing that. Two of them bit me hard and wouldn't let go!
I'm halfway through with this cleaning project that makes me wish I didn't have birds. I've inhaled a huge amount of budgie dust which isn't any good for my asthma but it had to be done. The cage is outside being washed. The porch (which literally resembled the bottom of a bird cage) is clean and I'm waiting for my husband to finsh cleaning the cage so I can redecorate and put the birds back.
I'm exhausted. I was up most of the night thinking about how I was going to do this cleaning project. None of the budgies got to fly free today and they're not happy about it. Joey keeps throwing her food bowl onto the floor of her cage in protest. The bowl weighs about as much as she does and she doesn't even have arms!

To anyone reading this: What music do you listen to? What are you irrationally afraid of? What's your favorite color? Favorite season? Favorite time of day? Favorite bird species? Favorite movie? Favorite hobby?

Hi! I'm new here, so, what we can chat about?:greenyellow:
Pretty much anything goes here, as long as it's in community standards :D .

Question for y'all... a weird one. If you could blend any cat with any species of parrot, what would you do? With me, it would be a cockatiel with a Devon Rex :D . Can you imagine the mischief? A can opener on its face and murder mits. Yeeeek!! LOL!

I listen to just about anything. MY SPotify list is a mix of musicals to Beast in Black and Rob ZOmbie.

Irrationally afraid of spiders. I get a gut-wrenching kick to the gut feeling about them. Anything bigger than a fingernail gets squished.

Favorite color.. hard ot pick, being an artist, but i love mixing black with jewel colors.

Winter is my fave season. No insects!

I looooove early morning, when the sun is just starting to come up. SO pretty!

Favorite bird species? Parrots are top of the list, followed by a secretary bird :D.

Fave movie - anything Transformers related. If it's not a fan thing, I love District 9, Medicine Man, and I am Legend.

My favorite hobby is a toss-up between breeding cockatiels (which I did for 15 years) to artistic pursuits.

lol, I would definitely say a Devon Rex. I had one for many years , and he was my best little buddy. Such a little clown. His name was Puck, after Shakespeare’s mischievous sprite. As for the bird…I don’t know. 😆

Music: Alternative and Indie mostly… I love 21 Pilots, Glass Animals, Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few.

Irrationally afraid of: seeing airplanes flying down low. I do fine flying. Something about how loud and big they are freaks me out.

Color: Hard to choose… I love copper and autumn colors. Also love blue.

Season: fall! 🍁

Time of day: anything but morning

Bird species: Conures of course!

Movie: Impossible to pick just one! Harry Potter, LOTR, The Holiday, A Knight’s Tale, Princess Bride…

Hobby: Reading, yoga, video games

Wow. And I get tired after cleaning Yuri and Ona cages every week. I tell ya, that Yuri is a little (lovingly) slob! 😂 Somehow she makes Ona look clean.

Music: Jimmy Buffett Sirious Radio Station (has a lot of music I like) and Classic Rock

Irrational Fears; Hmmm. Not any really, except I wouldn't stand on the clear thick plexiglas type material overlooking the Grand Canyon. I wouldn't jump out of a plane, I wouldn't go on a deep undersea exploration, but I don't think these fears are irrational.

Movie: no real favorites I can think of.

Color: Green

Season: Fall because the Temps are perfect and summer is too hot.

Time of Day: I never thought I would say this but Mornings are best.

Bird Species: Owls for wild birds, for pets I'd say English Budgies but I'd love a green cheek.

Hobbies: My budgies and gardening.

Least favorite thing: Cleaning large bird cages!

My dream extravagence: hiring someone to thoroughly clean my birdcages for me every two months. I'd do it but who would want the job?
I finished the Porch Birds' huge cage today and wrestled all eight of them back in. So my porch is now presentable and doesn't smell like a birdcage.
Now I have to do the big cage inside the house where five English budgies live. Its long overdue but the cage is 32x24x30 inches and weighs about 70 lbs. The residents are easy to handle but I have to carry it out through the porch and power wash it dry it and carry it back in. A big project.
My sister is coming to visit and I didn't want the place to be a mess.

I dread vacuuming. It's bag free. The dog/cat/people hair wrapping around rollers. The dust when emptying and filter cleaning.
Currently Nameliss is sharing 1 of 2 food downfalls, baked potatoes, popcorn the second.
I love audio books. Makes perfect white noise if volume low.
I love the old time instrument types; Pete Fountain, Wynton Marsalis, Louis Armstrong and many more. I enjoy many band instrumentals too. This too is white noise.
Insects, rats, snake, lizards etc don't bother me. As long as they're outside.
I dislike the phone ringing. I was on-call much of my nursing career. Due to shortage some places had mandatory on call days. Then my daughters military sent her to combat areas. Naturally I now ignore phone. Will not check voice mail. I've become worse since the advent of robo calls and texting. Unless expected I don't check for texting.
The totally fearfull thing that keeps me home bound is Snow, ice here in San Antonio Texas. The natives don't know how to drive on it. Somewhere there's this tradition being passed on. Snow + ice = drive as fast as possible, slam on brakes and pray.

Those cute parrots would ALMOST make me want to go to the laundromat! The smile on the Blue Fronts face is priceless! Their cages look like they needs some toys. Are they outside on the sidewalk?
