I've given my dogs tea (for upset stomach) and it actually helped. I would have never dreamed of giving it to my fids though.

All of mine LOVE juice (straight out of the juicer).

Tea is good for them, but like the article says make sure you pick the tea wisely.

Every morning, my cockatiel & lovebird, get a tiny sip of my Naturally Decaffienated Green Tea, out of my cup. Of course, before it goes near my mouth. And, I drink it without cream or sugar. They love it, and will not go without getting some. But, only a "birdie sip". Plus, all my birds occasionally get herbal teas, of various kinds. They love Hibiscus, Pomegranate, Ginger, and Chamomile, among others.

Thanks for posting the article. Pritti has been enjoying herbal iced tea with me for a long time (mostly fruity and flowery flavors). I use a bit of stevia to sweeten it, or unsweetened, depending on my mood.
