Cody-Blu, female Blue-Crowned Conure, Hatched - (approx) June 1, 2014, in a South Florida tree.

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
I transplanted my post from another thread.

I've been scouring the web for a nice tabletop play-gym for Pritti (adult, male, cherry-head/red-masked conure, 14", independent and adventurous), but I can't seem to find one I like. Most of them seem to have horizontal dowels that are pretty narrow diameter for a 14" conure's feet -- seem more like for gcc, sun, etc. (or seem way to wide).

Looking for:

  • [*]:yellow1:wood (with 1" perches)
  • :green2:not like a java tree (he has a couple like that)
  • :rainbow1:multi levels to climb, ladder (or can add),
  • :blue:place to hang some rings and toys
  • :blue1:can be carried from room to room without too much trouble.
    • :white1:bonus would be place to connect a snuggle buddy and a swing, and if I could add something by wingnut & screw (like a mirror)
Any suggestions, photos, links? Would love to know.

Thanks.
:)

I got all my playgyms from a guy in Florida. They were made of bottlebrush wood and my macaws loved them. I had a smaller one for the smaller birds I was fostering. Great stuff.

I googled play gyms for birds and found "DIY gym" The guy used different sizes of dowel rods and a sheet of plywood (all pine) By using this you can make your own the height and width that you want. My husband priced it at Lowe's and said that it would be about $20.00 once completed. This makes it totally custom. I plan to add baby chew toys that are tough along with pine blocks dyed with food dye. I hope this helps.

ps do not use any glue, use small wood screws from the bottom and pine wood mini dowels to fit dowels together.

@bk parrot - can you recall the name, or possibly direct me to a link for that website?

@grassyfairy -- i don't think i have it in me to make one, but i love the idea of a custom one.

thanks for your ideas.

Thanks. I'm familiar with Golden Cockatoo. Been there number of times. Fantastic store, fantastic people.

Are we allowed to mention other sites? perchfactory.com lists sites to places that carry all different kinds.

The best one I have is from a bird shop in a nearby city. Handmade, solid, water based food coloring as "paint".
