Queequeg (rescued BFA, 34)
Winston (rescued CAG, 25)
Cyrus (adopted GCC, 2)
Houdini, Peeper, and Little Blue--the Budgie Trio
Is it mere coincidence that, within a week of Cyrus's arrival (2-yr-old GCC) and the more venturesome behavior of Queequeg (old BFA), suddenly a significant part of the back of my (quite nice) piano was turned into toothpicks?????

Could a demure little GCC have done this? I'm sure my cranky old Amazon could, but she doesn't venture that far across the room. OR DOES SHE?

Can mice make toothpicks? Is it ridiculous that I wish it WERE mice that had done this?

At least I've kept the harps farther away.

ARGH!

Ah, the old problem: Sounds like your fids are running amok in your Orchestra pit! :D
Keep them restricted to the Brass section and keep them away from the Woodwinds and Strings! :p

HAHA Im sorry about your piano, dont feel bad, one of my little angels ate the facing off of one of my kitchen drawers. Neither one has fessed up to the crime.

No kidding, Mudkips. We have harps, an oboe, a violin, a piano--AND a trumpet. Which they'd probably love to poop in. I have to rethink free time...

But honestly--could a conure do that kind of damage? He is the one nearest the piano. Good grief.

Im sure someone will say yes but...with both of my gcc, they will shred the heck out of some paper and the woven shredder stuff but neither of them have chewed the wood on any of their toys! Like I said, Im sure its possible, but would probably take quite some time to do some major damage! :11:

I have two GCC's and they have to put a lot of work into shredding any toys with pine. Most of the time they will just give up if it requires much effort. The hardest thing they have chewed up are the 1/2" wood alphabet blocks. They find the bigger ones too much of a challenge to even attempt. Good luck finding the responsible bird.

My GCC prefers to chew balsa. Is it possible this has been going on longer than you think?

You'd be surprised what that little beak can do.....conures love chewing. My sun conure is the same. But she's not near my piano, and I give her toys and toilet paper rolls to destroy. She likes Kleenex boxes too, but I stopped giving those because I didn't know if the colored cardboard is safe.......

She also likes destroying old, worn out clothes. I gave mine an old T-shirt. She tore it up to her liking, and sleeps in the draped folds now! Haha. Maybe give yours something like that?

My GCC isn't a big chewer, and only will chew on softer things.
