I have been trying for a while to get Ollie to sleep for 12 hours. He is a cranky dinosaur and needs his beauty sleep. I live in a one room apartment in a barn. There is no isolated place to put him. I turn most of the lights out and creep around but I can hear him playing under the cover. He starts dinging his bell when I get up. Right now he's chewing his perch under there. I can't lay in bed for 12 hours...

Its kind of a fallacy that the room needs to be dead quiet. The jungle and woods parrots live in is certainly not quiet at night, in fact might even be louder ambient noise then daytime. You can try using a white noise generator, I use one under Salty's cage. It can mask other intermittent noises and let the bird sleep better. Not terribly expensive on line.

If I leave even a *tiny* crack uncovered on Alex's cage he will find it, and whistle at me thru it 😂 white noise generator is a great idea. I use fans n play a DVD at night. At this point if I'm late to turn it on, they tell me.
