The Twins are showing out of season hormones, mostly Luna.

The normal time period is around April.

I have only made one change and as unlike as it seems it could be related.

I was cleaning out the bottom tray and a big piece of paint/coating flaked off exposing rust.
Because the Twins like to walk around on the bottom of the cage I have to protect them from that.
So I put the bar graiting in the bottom to keep them from going all the way to the bottom.

I prefer to keep it out cuz it’s a PITA to clean compared to just changing paper.

But now when they climb down and walk around on the bars on the floor of the cage the start posturing and making noises like… you know what.

I have tried (some) to get them into Bingo’s old cage but so far they are not comfortable in it.
They spent most of a day in his cage but when evening came around they were very uneasy and I had to put them back in there own cage.

I know someone who took the fronts off two cages and put them face to face until his birds started using them both, then separated the cages. A no stress cage swap.

Putting the newspaper over the bars at the bottom of the cage worked.
At least for now..
They will go down to pick up some tidbit that was dropped but they don’t walk around on the bottom and …. Going hormonal.
It’s messier to change the paper but I don’t want to do anything that promotes out of season hormones.
