Throwing food

Gizmo (my male eclectus) has had this funny habit of throwing food through the cage for a while now.

It's mostly at my wife. If my wife is sitting at the table (which is close to his cage), he will sometimes go up to his bowl and pick up some food with his foot and try to throw it through the cage at her (sometimes with a slight growl), as if to say "Now clean that up".

It's all fairly harmless I think, but I thought I would ask, does your eclectus do the same thing? Is this a common thing or another example of Gizmo's crazy mind at work...lol.

I don't have an eclectus, but my cockatoo and both my Quakers are world class food pitchers, they have pretty nice aim too.

Is he throwing the food with his foot?!? If so, that's rather impressive! Hahaha!

Neither Maya nor Jolly do much of the food chucking, but Bixby definitely did. And he DEFINITELY did it to make a statement! There were certain foods that he didn't like. And Sir Bix was serious about his food! If we dared put in one of the foods he hated most, he would pick it out, take aim, and LAUNCH it straight at you! (With his beak, though. That foot thing is a whole other level! Lol!)

Yes it's with his foot, but it's nothing like an effective throw, it barely makes it through the bars, just far enough to make a mess, so it sounds like he has a lot to learn if he is going to go in the bird olympics...lol. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the food particularly (can be anything he happens to pick up).

I will see if I can get a video of it, like I said, nothing I am concerned about, just another example of Gizmo's quirky mind at play, he is a character.

My Ekkie will throw pomegranate (a favorite) about 10 feet from his cage. It's pretty impressive and very messy. He gets that hand fed now. From what I've read ekkies are notorious for throwing food around.

Venus throws food, I'm usually the target, also the wall and window. But never with her foot, that is impressive, lol!!! And the idea, where did that come from, lol???

No ekkie here, but my green cheek throws food, sometimes with her foot.
It's usually when I try to give her a peace offering after having to put her away in her cage. She'll take it from me, look at it, then at me, then throw the food purposefully without even taking a nibble.
