Hi everyone,
this is Terry's brother Tommy. My grandfather's funeral was today, and we decided to name the new addition after him.

so far he is eating and drinking, but he is terrified of people... I can imagine those little kids were very terrible to him :( fingers crossed he will someday trust us.:greenyellow:

I am completely optimistic.
Terry (and gramps) will live on through Tommy, and Tommy (and all of us) are the richer for it!
Thank you for bringing him into our hearts.

He let me rub his beak through the cage bars today :) still doesn't like when my hands are in his cage at all though. Baby steps.

A very appropriate name and tribute, Sarah.

I am certain Tommy will appreciate you and become tame sooner rather than later!

I saw Tommy play with a toy for the first time today!! I've been working on getting him used to having my hand in his cage with very mild success. I know he wants to trust us, but he can't get past the fact that hands have always grabbed him in the past.

He's also been flying around his cage a lot more, in an explorative way and not in a scared way. Hoping he will continue to get braver as time goes by.

Excellent progress! Both you and Tommy are going to be well rewarded.

He came out yesterday :)

I'm on my way to work a double, but can't wait to let him out again tomorrow night! He was so good, he was a bit nervous and flew around a lot, but once he discovered he could sit there, he played on top of his cage for about an hour. So happy to know he is familiar with our room enough that I can start letting him out. :)

Just wanted to share a positive update.

Fantastic, Tommy looks happy surveying his fiefdom!

What a nice little session tonight!!! I can't believe it.

He is becoming so brave. Tonight, when we got home from a bridal show we were at, Tommy was CALLING for us!! It's the first time that has happened

THEN - when I went into the room to change, I noticed that instead of shying away from me, he was on his perch as close to the side of the cage to me as he could be, with his little eyes observing me. When I walked over, for the first time he didn't move away right away. He kind of sat and looked at me. I slowly opened the top of the cage, and he usually gets scared... but he didn't! He sat calmly. I left it open and sat on the bed to give him some space.

He chirped a few times and eventually made his way out of the cage. He didn't do his usually flying around the room a bunch, he flew TOWARDS me on the bed, but turned around and sat on the cage again.

I held my finger out in the air and tried calling him. He chirped, and chirped... then he tried to land on my finger!! He got nervous at the last minute and turned around, but his little body touched my hand he did that out of choice, with not even a treat to bribe him.

It really makes me feel amazing to think that after what he's been through he is starting to trust us. What a great night for Tommy. <3
