What bird do you have exactly?

Knowing what kind of parrot would be good. The needs of a budgie VS a macaw are very different. Do be aware if you'l be flying, you'll need to reserve well ahead of time and have an airline approved carrier that will fit under the seat. If you'll be driving, it is wise to have your bird microchipped (if not banded) as well as a recent travel health certificate from the avian vet.

IRN and no no flying for a family of 6

BE CAREFUL your bird MIGHT get motion sickness in a car. My bird drives around with me all the time but once I had a rental for a bit because of a fender bender, (he wasn't with me) and I took a trip a little further than usual and he started "puking". I would maybe take a test drive, see if he is ok with car travel, go about 20 miles. I don't know if it was because we went from my truck to a car, or the distance but he was not happy about it. That or he suddenly wanted to show his affection but I doubt that.
