Traveling cage, advice needed

I was thinking about getting the Pack-o-Bird and modifying a stroller so it will sit in it.

If you do, you'll have to share how you like it on the forum. I haven't found issue using it as a backpack most of the time since it's super lightweight. Though it might make it easier to have it in a stroller when we go to the farmers market during the summer (trying to carry my shopping basket while wearing the backpack is pretty cumbersome). When we go to stores, I set it in the shopping cart

Of course I'll share. ill probably wait a couple months after my hahns arrives before i get one. They allow you to bring your bird in the stores?

I don't bring him to stores that sell food (like grocery or restaurants). I don't appreciate other people who bring non-service animals, so i won't be a hypocrite on that issue. Places like the bank, post office, dollar tree Joann fabrics, hardware store have all welcomed Kiwi. I ask before I bring him in, but no one has ever said no. I think since he's quiet and not able to poop on things or create problems people are just in love with seeing a great big parrot out and about They all ask TONS of questions and want to talk to him and he mesmerizes young children. I've actually had quite a few people ask to take pictures of him in his backpack, and so long as I'm not in the shot, I'm fine with it. He's like an ambassador for parrots when he's out, and I get to educate people every time he comes out about how difficult yet rewarding rescue birds are and that they aren't for everyone/so much more than a living decoration Of course he just loves all the attention he gets and gets such great enrichment seeing/smelling/hearing new things, it's a win-win all around!

Do you guys think these Pak-o-birds could be used for smaller birds like a tiel with no problem? I got the Aviator Harness and I am trying to get her harnessed trained but sometimes it would be easier to put her in a travel cage and take her with me.

They make ones about the size of a handbag for small birds actually An XS or S may be a better size for a tiel. Kiwi's is the medium, it's really big. This is their website that has all the sizes for you to look at the dimensions of:

Though, for overnight a medium might not be a bad idea. It would literally be a little getaway cabin for a tiel sized bird I believe we had a member last summer (can't remember who) that set up their oversized for their bird pak-o-bird like a mini cage for overnight trips.

For some reason I would think a guy carrying a bird in a backpack into a store would get a different response.

I bought the Poquito Avian Hotel. I got it on sale for $50. I wouldn't pay much more than that. I was not I pressed with the quality. It didn't fit together easily and one of the feeder doors does not match up and had to be modified a little bit to lock properly.

OK so the travel cage has been ordered from Amazon. It's like the one in the first picture. But we're not sure about the harness. Any suggestions about brands and where to order?

I'm guessing you would need the medium size harness found here:MySafeBirdStore. Seems to be the only harness that everyone seems to use. I'll be picking one up as well come spring.

Sheeji, if you make a cup holder bird pirch, use a paper plate with a cut (from the edge to center) with a cut-out or use the paper towel. Also, make sure the top pirch isn't too high so your birdy calls ON-STAR with an emergency! Yes, Robin called On-Star! The pirch was a block of wood that wedged into the cup holder with T-style dowels. No rope so he was forced to stay on the T .

The Aviator Harness is the one that I like. The Flight Suit is held together with velcro and that doesnt seem as safe to me.

Oh I missed all these messages. Thought the post went quiet. Anyways so here's an update on the cage. This is what came in the mail. Should've been alarmed when Hubby said I found one cheaper. They ARE pretty expensive.
After much frowning I think I managed to convince him to order another one and a harness. It was his idea to get a parrot after all and Im the one who fell in love (with the parrot)

I have no idea what you're talking about. May be once I see the cage I'll understand.
