We went yesterday to pick up a Pineapple GCC. Well we came out with 2 hahaha. Trix and Skittles about 2 months old. We got it from a local breeder.

Last night was great. They fell as sleep on my wife and daughter. They hardly make noise. They did some grinding before falling as sleep.

We put them in the cage and they explored, they went up the cage and fell as sleep.

We covered them.

We love them!!! I was not really a bird person but they awesome!!

I have a question. Why would they not sleep in the perch? But hanging on the cage?

They are brand new so they'll act weird for a while. The birds I've had tend to cling to bars where they are nervous, so that seems pretty normal.

Congrats on your new babies!

ah ok. Thats good.

They are always together. Side by side. Even in and outside of the cage. Right now they are on top of the cage and are sleeping side by side.

We will start teaching them tricks.

Last night we put them inside and said good night and covered the cage.

Hoping they can understand good night.

Are they from the same clutch? You should get them DNA tested to make sure they are the same sex. If you have one boy and one girl they will need to be separated before they pair bond, otherwise when they reach maturity they will mate.
Congrats on the new additions!

Let me ask the breeder. They have hatch date 5/10 and 5/12 didnt think they would be from the same clutch since its 2 days apart.

I think they would be in the same clutch then. Not completely sure with birds since I personally have no experience in that. But if it's anything like bearded dragons laying eggs then I would bet they're in the same clutch. At least with beardies, they don't lay their eggs all at once. Our female laid 3 for her first clutch over the span of about a week, give or take a day. They were considered to still be in the same clutch.

Another thing to think about. I've read that if you let your parrots form that bond with each other and mate then they could become aggressive to you because they are trying to protect their mate from harm. So if you want them to stay cuddly, I would suggest separating them. Just my two cents. You certainly don't have to and they may not become aggressive.

Siblings don't hatch on the same day as they are not laid on the same day and thus will hatch a few days apart. At 8 weeks they might not be too certain about the perching activity and may still want to huddle in a 'nest'. Being moved to a new home might make young birds regress in their behavior and they'll have a tendency to cuddle together.

Anyway, congratulations on your new additions!

Thanks everyone for the info. We are training now with up up and down down.

Is holding them and petting them too long a bad thing? My daughter has been playing with Trix for over an hour. Not sure if they get tired...

also is it normal for them to sleep on you? She just fell asleep on my daughters hands

They do sleep on you, yes that's normal. It's also fine to handle them for long periods of time, but you have to be careful that a) you wash your hands frequently because oils and dirt on your hands can damage their feathers, and b) that you also work on teaching them to play independently so that they don't become so clingy that they develop attention screaming problems.

You should really consider getting them DNA sexed as soon as possible. They are almost definitely from the same clutch, or at least they share a parent. If they're opposite sexes and they become very pair bonded it is difficult and heartbreaking to separate them, and it can develop behavioral problems and aggression- but it would be absolutely necessary to stop them breeding. Siblings of opposite sex should never, ever be caged together.

However, if they both turn out to be boys or both girls, it doesn't matter :)

ok breeder stated they are form same clutch....... I will get them both checked. He stated that from his genetics are right they should be girls... Not sure what he means lol

My babies started hatching on the 15th and i've still got 5 eggs to go so its likely their the some clutch. Its not like with puppies or kittens where their all born at once. as for hanging on the cage some birds prefer to sleep that way Petri has always slept like that preferring to have his back to his sleeping tent then being in it. It annoys tiki sometimes cause she always wants to cuddle but she has hot rod and Isaac to cuddle. And yes its normal for them to sleep on you. it means their comfortable with you. At least thats what i get from it.

I see. Thanks for the info

So if they are male female, what is the best thing to do? Different cages then? Will they fight when put outside to play? Should I contact the breaded about this? I feel like he should have know not to sell me a pair. And I should have done more reading about it....

Do you have any proof from the breeder that they are both girls? Unless he's a respectable breeder, which I'm not saying he's not, I would personally still get them sexed. But I'm just paranoid like that after getting surprised with a female bearded dragon thinking they were both male. You can either take them to the avian vet or order one online. I hear they're pretty cheap. People who have done that would have more info on that subject than me.

If they do end up being male/female then I think the best thing to do would be separate cages. If they're already pretty close with each other and it helps that they're growing up together, I can't really see them fighting too much outside of the cage. This is all mainly what I've gotten from reading other people's threads.

ok got it. Thanks, Ill check to see if there is one local to get them tested.

That's not always true. At least in linnies some breeders pull the eggs as they are laid and then when they are all laid they put them back to brood specifically so they will hatch at the same time.

Another super quite night and day. They dont make a sound lol
I built this last night for them.

Skittles is brave and already knows up command without a treat.

Trix is timid. Looks like Skittles wants all the attention. Im going to have to train them separate since he/she keeps coming over to take Trix treats.

Skittles is bigger in size and tries to take food away from Trix as well.

Please any feedback on the play pin. Anything needed?

Here they are. They where dozing off

Also Skittles beak has like a birth mark. Breeder says its always been there. Any concerns?

So Skittles is advancing. She knows up up and down down. Lets her get pet and rubbed. But Trix is very shy and wont let you pick her up and train her.

Any ideas? Im trying to train them separate. Once you pick up trix she stays and goes on you. But to be picked up is like the worst thing ever.
